Review: Great paint, but slightly blueish white more than brilliant white - Zinsser is my go to brand for most things these days. PermaWhite is a great paint - the mould resistant feature works well, no odour, and easy to apply. I used it in two places.. Interior Garage wall - apart from the painted edges, this was bare drywall. One reviewer shows photos of it peeling, but they clearly didnt seal the drywall first. You need to seal it first, ideally with Zinsser Gardz Permawhite is supposed to be a self priming paint, but for this wall it needed 3 coats. If I did it again Id probably do Gardz, then prime it with Zinsser BIN, then 1 or 2 coats of Permawhite. Batheroom Ceiling: This was already painted so didnt need Gardz or a primer, just 2 coats of Permawhite to freshen it up and it was looking great. I cut in with a cheap natural bristle brush, and then used Hamilton Perfection Medium Pile rollers (both the mini ones for the garage area, and the larger one for my bathroom ceiling - I love the finish from these rollers) Color: My only cricitiscm is that its quite a cold looking white - more on the blueish side than youd normally expect from a brilliant white emulsion. Cleanup: Whilst it doesnt claim to be entirely water-based, you can clean wet brushes and rollers just by rinsing in the sink with water. If you leave them to dry, you'll need something like Zinsser BIN Brush cleaner, and at that point its usually worth just tossing them. Review: Fantastic. - After reading the reviews I opted for this mould resistant paint to sort out some mould in my toilet. It arrived promptly was well packaged and the tin was in perfect condition with the lid secured with adhesive tape and 2 metal clips.once open it took about 5 minutes stirring before use, I used a 4 inch brush to apply as I don't think this paint is conjusive to using a roller. If you are treating mould I put on two coats of damp proof paint on first then two coats of Zinsser . This paint is super easy to use **Q: Can I paint over this with a nice normal emulsion once it’s dried** A: Yes it dries matt white perfect to paint over after **Q: Is this okay for painting bathroom tiles** A: Never tried it on tiles, but it worked brilliantly in a very humid bathroom **Q: Can you paint window frames with this paint?** A: This is for woodwork, doors etc. It is the rebranded version of the Zinsser Perma White, white you can no longer get. I spoke to Zinsser Tech Dept as I kept getting sent this paint when ordering the Perma White, Amazon still has old photo of old style tin on site as at todays date. I returned 2 tins and complained I was being sent the wrong paint. However, on speaking to Zinsser they confirmed, same paint just rebranded to emphasis the anti mould properties. I think the new paint is thinner than the old one but they say it’s the same.
