Comprehensive Scoliosis resource for a Pilates teacher
I am a Pilates teacher who has scoliosis, two of my kids have scoliosis as well. This book was a true gem for me.As a Pilates instructor I knew a lot of the alignment principles but was lacking the in-depth knowledge of scoliosis. The book shares the latest research on scoli and how it can be applied to the movement practice. There is no one-fit-all recipe for scoliosis. You constantly have to adjust and work with the body in front of you. Erin shares valuable advice on how to analyze the scoli back in front of you and how to design the best movement practice for this person. Here is what I liked about the book:- detailed pictures- Pilates and release exercises to try (several of them were new to me and my scoli body really loved them)- Tips on how to work with fused clients- Finding different focus of exercise for scoli clients- the easy language - the book was a pleasure to read and reread!

Erin is a life saver!
Loved the book and I loved Erin even more! Attended a scoliosis workshop this fall and got to see her work up close. I am 50 and have severe scoliosis and I am trying to avoid surgery. I have essentially done everything you can possibly imagine and spent thousands, even saw a man from Prague. Hear me when I say PILATES is the only thing that has been truly effective to manage pain and optimize function. There is hope! Erin is extremely knowledgeable and she’s the one person I trust over physicians and any other practitioner. Get the book, read it, and GO see her! Thank you Erin!

Terrific Book
I am a Balanced Body Pilates Master Instructor and I have been practicing and teaching Pilates for about 20 years. I have worked with many scoli clients, so I too have been reading and studying the research to find as many ways as possible to help them. I am writing to thank you for your most recent book. You have taken a mess of information and synthesized it into a cohesive plan that is useful for any Pilates instructor. I have used many of the techniques described in your book, but you have organized them, so now I have the tools to create real change in my clients. This book, along with my new scoliometer, is now a permanent fixture in my bag of tricks!

Easy to learn and apply
I love this book. It is written in terms that helped me apply my knowledge of Pilates and gain a good understanding of scoliosis to enable me to help my clients right away. Easy to read with good illustrations to enhance learning. A thorough understanding helped me feel confident and gave me the ability to modify exercises based on each client’s individual needs. Highly recommend this book whether you already have clients with scoliosis or your first one walks through the door tomorrow.

IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU LOVE HAS SCOLIOSIS: THIS BOOK IS A MUST
I have been learning about Pilates, Anatomy, Scoliosis and running a Pilates Studio from Erin Myers since 2006. I continue to learn each day and she is an incredible resource for information about movement....bottom line: I have read it 3 times and use the information in my practice each day to help the body in front of me.

Fantastic book - use it often when working with scoliosis clients
I love this book - it has helped me tremendously in my work as a pilates instructor, as I work with scoliosis clients. Highly recommended for other instructors who have scoliosis clients (or want to work with this population as a target market).

Some basic anatomy with questionable practices.
The problem I have with this book is that the author holds no medical or physical therapy degree. Anyone can say they are a Pilates "expert" with very little training. Furthermore, her opinion is that the convex side is overworked and the concave side is weak. This is not often the case. Many doctors and doctors of PT actually say the opposite. Core work or pelvic muscle imbalances resulting in functional short legs isn't addressed. In order to do her exercises, you will also need to invest several thousand dollars in Pilates machines. She has some good ideas in theory but when it comes to convex vs concave, she is bass awkwards and I cringe knowing she is advising sufferers.
