Here the deal:We had one of those Commercial grade Honeywell touchscreen thermostats that usually do a great job, but we noticed the temperature in the house never seemed to keep, and would hear the unit, whether heater or ac, kick on quite a bit. We decided to do some research, and with a deal from our energy provider, we ended up with one of those $249 Nest thermostats. I was STOKED, like a fat kid with some apple pie. We got the Nest in, and I went to work. Like a Dad in bad joke bookstore. I've replaced many thermostats over the years and the Nest was a piece of cake. BUT, we discovered it had a malfunction, so after talking with tech support, it was getting replaced. SOOOO, back to the Honeywell. I went out to the garage and grabbed the oldie off the shelf, and as I was walking in, my Dollar Store flip flop got caught on the door jam. It popped the rubber thing out of the foam bottom and made me nearly fall over forwards onto the hard tiled floor. There i was, Rambo faced, screaming in slo motion, feeling the pain of my big toe hit the metal, when all of a sudden the Honeywell touch screen goes flying out of my hands, and flips, and turns, and swings, and screams, to the floor. BAM!!! Cracked screen. Out of Commission. No Goodie No More. Mad me. I dropped the ball, but it wasn't the ball man, it was my $150 Honeywell touch screen I had plans to put back onto the wall when we sold the house years from now. So there I was, at a cross roads, like Willow, but without Mad Mardigan there to take the baby. I broke my working thermostat, and was left with TWO broken thermostats. It was humid, then cold, then hot, then cold, then humid, the windows were open, they were closed, they were damned like Conan the Barbarian was.I decided to order THIS thermostat from Amazon. I got in two days, and the hookup was easy. Easy yo. I'm talking so easy, I thought about taking it for a drink and a meal. The thermostat works like a champ! However I now rec'd the replacement Nest thrmostat and this one is taken down, boxed up, and awaits its new homeowner in severla years whoever and whenever that may be.Pros:1. Easy to install (C wire is Common and NOT used)2. Basic use makes ti fun for all ages!3. Basic programming is available, but nothing that is 3 pointer at the buzzer wow4. Small, and easy to useCons:1. None. It works great and is easy to install

Very accurate. Four years, and only replaced batteries once.
It still works. I just want one that lights up when I push a button. It's in a dark corner and the light on the phone is a hassle when going to bed. I'll use more batteries for the convenience. I don't mind to FAFO. EV anyone? Now there's a massive battery. So ¼ oz of battery to control the heat where I live is perfect.Installation is easy. Two screws is all.Very simple.Great control.Wonderful display.

Basic thermostat
Good quality, easy to install (thanks to you tube) and program. Basic functions, just like I wanted. Be sure and get the model that illuminates.

So Easy to install and works great !
I bought two thermostats that would be easy to read and set. I was afraid I would not know how to install it, as I'm not mechanically inclined - more of a bookworm. You can understand my hesitation. In any event, I received this thermostat and I installed the first one at my parents' house. They have an old mercury thermostat that was no longer working properly. Most important thing is to cut the power to the furnace, then label the wires in the old thermostat.I just finished installing the new Honeywell and it was SOOO EASY and it works like a charm. Their connections only had two wires, white and red. It couldn't have been simpler. My parents' don't want to have it set daily or weekly, just manually, adjusting the temp to fit their comfort. The numbers are clearly legible and best of all, the thermostat tells them when the furnace is on (when nothing is stated it means it's off). This saves them a trip to the basement to check if it's working - other than feeling/hearing the steam come up.The next step is replacing the thermostat at my (newer) condo. Given this practice, it should go well. In any event, there's a service number to call for help. I trust these guys can be of support, if needed. So far so good. I installed the thermostat at my condo. I thought I needed the super to cut the power to the furnace - since I don't have access to it, directly - but I didn't need to do that. My apartment is finally heated at the best temp for me. All I needed to do is reset the temperatures pre-set by honeywell on their schedule. I came home last night and the apt was a comfortable 68 degrees. It doesn't go on in the middle of the night, waking me up, b/c it's preset at 62. Anyway, I am very happy with the thermostat and can't imagine spending over $200 for ones you can control with your smartphone. There is no doubt that this product can make anyone as happy as I am.

Information that you need- 3 stars because they get read more often
This thermostat RTH221B has not been installed yet. The one that is installed is the same thermostat that you can program seperately for week days and then again for the weekend. As I am retired so which day it is is not critical. The installed thermostat works occasionally (10% of reviews are unfavorable). I called Honeywell before installing the replacement thermostat to see if the installation wall bracken was the same and it is. I told Honeywell that the reason I bought it was that their other thermostat was not working. I then told them that I took out the batteries and put back in the SAME batteries and then it work. I said is something here that I should be aware of. The answer in addition to filling the contacts to make sure there was a good connection was sometimes it is necessary to put the batteries in BACKWARDS for 20 seconds to reverse the charge. I can not say if either of these things work as my current thermostat is still working but when it does fail, I am prepared and thought you might like to be too.
