Review: The Griddle Is Outstanding, Probably Won't Use My Grill Much Anymore - My 28" Blackstone griddle arrived 5 days early. I was so excited when I got home and saw it that I drug the box in to the house and assembled it in the living room. CONS: 1. The box was a disaster. It was 2/3 open at one end, beaten and torn at every corner, plastic straps were very loose, and part of the label was missing. Needless to say, I was expecting missing parts and a damaged griddle. I debated opening it for 15 minutes since I felt I should probably return it before opening because I knew I couldn't repack it in the same box. I decided to cross my fingers for luck then unpack it and take lots of photos so I could repack it if necessary. PROS: 1. It was packed so we'll that it all held together with no dents, dings, or missing parts despite the exterior box. Assembly instructions suggested 2 people. I am a single 68 year old woman who is NOT physically fit yet I was able to assemble it all by myself in under 75 minutes. Good instructions with diagrams made this one of the simplest assemblies I've had - much easier than assembling boxed furniture! 2. I read several articles and watched videos on how to season a Blackstone griddle. I'm experienced with cast iron cookware so I'm not a virgin seasoner but wanted expert advice particular for the brand. There's some debate over type of oil to use for seasoning so I opted to buy the Blackstone Griddle Seasoning and Conditioner. I really don't think that was necessary; any high smoke point vegetable oil will work. Canola oil is readily available and the least expensive. I seasoned the griddle 4 times. 3. My first cook was 2lbs of thick sliced pepper bacon, my second was 4 smash burgers which were delicious! Controlling the temp will take some practice, primarily learning the hotter and cooler sections of the griddle. To help me while I'm still on training wheels, I bought an infrared thermometer gun. However, when cooking the 2lbs of bacon it was easy to see the slight temperature differences because the degree of doneness was obvious. Despite slight temperature differences, there was only a 2 minute difference in cook time between the strips around the very edge versus the rest of the flat top. 3. The griddle should be as level as possible when seasoning or griddling. Mine is set on an uneven brick patio so I have a cheap level I keep with it along with a dozen small squares of cardboard to put under the legs or wheels to make it level. Fortunately, my 28" griddle is light enough to easily slip as few or as many cardboard squares under it as needed. All in all, I would highly recommend the Blackstone griddle to anyone even remotely interested in backyard cooking. I also own an Oklahoma Joe's Longhorn Combo smoker/grill (saucepan burner, propane chamber, charcoal chamber, and offset smoker) which I like a lot, but if I'm honest, it probably won't get much use now that I have the griddle. Several foods can be cooked on a grill but almost everything can cooked on a flat top griddle.
Review: Just buy it - Probably the best cooking item I've ever owned. Food tastes so much better cooked on a griddle, especially a well seasoned one. Do not make the mistake some of the low scoring reviewers did by not properly seasoning it. It's really easy, and you can find plenty of tutorials online for doing it. after even using it one time and seasoning it like you're supposed to, it will pretty much lock in the non stick and rust protection. Just make sure you do it it every time. The pictures I'm posting are of the grill (with other accessories) when I first set it up, and then making breakfast a few days later. Yes, I've only had this thing for three days now and you can see the difference in what the surface looks like when you season it and care for it like you're supposed to. I've only cooked four meals on it so far and you can see the surface getting that nice dark, black coating that you want it ti get. Out of the box, it took maybe a maximum of ten minutes to set it up, it comes mostly assembled right out of the box. Legs fold in for easy transport, top grill surface is really heavy. Only issue I ran into was the two outside burners (it has 4 total, 2 for each knob) do not ignite every time with the ignition and I have to use either a long lighter or a stick to transfer the flame over. Not a big deal for me at all. My food has come out a thousand times better than stove top cooking and despite the amount of oil you're using to season and cook with, food comes out almost grease free. It's like magic. I use it on my porch as my now daily cooking station, but I can't wait to take this thing camping.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can't seem to get the flames very high and it's not heating the griddle. Been running for about 45 minutes and not smoking with seasoning process.**
A: Turn the propane valve on and wait at least one minute to allow the gas line to fill to capacity and pressurize. That should give you full pressure to the burners allowing for full cooking temperature.

**Q: Could you use just the griddle part without the legs to make it look built in?**
A: The legs can be removed to place it on a counter or in your outdoor kitchen.
We do recommend having 6" of clearance around the griddle for airflow and to have it at least 3 feet from anything that is combustible.

**Q: Can the regulator be removed in order to use a quick connect to a camper trailer?**
A: I already had a 12’ hose with quick coupler on one end and adapter connector for the 17” so I removed the hose snd regulator from the 28” griddle and then removed the 17” adapter from the 12’hose and attached the 12’ hose directly to the 28” griddle at the point I removed the regulator hose. Works great. I then added the 17” connector to the regulator hose and now I can hook the 17” to a propane tank.

**Q: The picture is of the old model with round burners are we sure Amazon now ships new one with H burners?**
A: Yes they are shipping the grill with H shaped burners. I am happy with the delivery. Thank you.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wonderful Flat top Grill for 2 people!
*by T***Y on July 11, 2020*

My wife and I absolutely love it. The 28 inch Blackstone is the right size for cooking for 2-4 people. It is easy to use, simple to clean, and a lot of fun. I highly recommend seasoning it with flax seed oil before using it. As far as cooking goes, the heat distribution is exactly hot I wanted it. The middle stays hot and sizzling while the outside edges are less hot. That makes it perfect for keeping sauteed veggies warm while cooking meats on the middle. The only real downside is that you have to pay extra attention to keeping rain water off it and cleaning it right after you use it to avoid rust etc. It is worth the little extra effort though. The grill is especially useful for making breakfast (omelettes and pancakes are very easy) and stir fry style meals. We are looking forward to trying out street tacos, Philly cheese steaks, and much more on our Blackstone. Try out this grill!
