Any thoughts?** A: In my bedroom I have this on a timer and a lamp on a separate timer about 2 feet away. When you put it "on" on a timer, the sensor does not work on the device. The timer control the device. I have it set to come on at a specific time in the early evening and go off at 11; same with the lamp timer. I also have one that is always on in the living room to make it look like someone is in the living room sleeping or watching TV. You can't see it working in the daytime, but you see it at night. I am very very happy with this device. **Q: How much brighter is the FTV-11 compared to the FTV-10? Enough to warrant paying $15 more?** A: The FTV 11 simulates a 40” LCD tv. While the FTV 10 simulates the light from a 27” tv. The same company sells a FTV 7 that does the same as the FTV 10 but with less timer options. **Q: Can someone tell me, the blue lights means seven hrs or four ? my instructiions were not in the box.** A: The small, solid blue light means the timer is on for 7 hours. The small, solid red light means the timer is set for 4 hours. For the instructions: The small switch on the back has four settings: off, on (on all the time), 4 (hours after dusk), or 7 (hours after dusk). The writing on the switch is very small. Also, it is best to aim it away from the window and onto a wall. **Q: Does this device trigger false alarms when using a security camera that records based on motion detection?** A: All the security cameras I've seen and used detect motion by changes in light patterns on the central DVR unit if it is that type of system. Maybe some self standing cameras detect motion from infra red heat generated by people and animals like motion activated light fixtures do. So, I would have to answer this by saying it depends on your camera system. From the street, it really does look like a real television playing. I have mines setup in a guest room, and I placed it on a dresser (in the same spot and position I would put a real tv). I don’t have it directly facing the window. But, this thing is so bright, and realistic, you don’t need to. I had it on a timer , but decided to get fancy. About a month ago, I plugged my fake tv into a smart plug. So, now, I can turn it on, no matter where I am. I can also set a regular timer on my smart plug, or set a countdown timer on the plug. This allows me to turn the fake tv on where ever I’m at, and set it for a countdown timer to go off for however long I want it on......or, I can set a countdown timer to have it come on also. I also turn it on and off when we’re home too. Using this in addition to my smart bulb in our guest room, it gives our always empty guest room a lived in appearance (at least from the outside). Anyway, my point is, there are so many things you can do with this thing. Unfortunately this is the world we live in.
