It came with a Prop65 warning label.** A: Well, knowing that Prop65 is a CA thing, Putting a label on it is a CYA kind of thing. The scoop is cast aluminum. A good 80% or more of aluminum is recycled. If you know anything about recycling, they use material that is likely recovered scrap. In this case, mainly soda/beer cans. It is possible to a small amount of lead into the scrap stream. In a case like this, any lead will be mixed into an alloy, so it's not like chunks of free lead floating around in the molten aluminum. But there could be small trace amounts, mainly locked up in the alloy. However, if you completely dissolved he scoop into a solution and ran spectrographic tests on it I would not be surprised if occasionally some trace amounts showed up. Prop65 says 0,5 micrograms, which is 0.5 parts per million. An incredibly small amount. The real problem becomes that trying to regulate lead levels so low and then be able to test and certify compliance at these levels, would eliminate recycling. So what the label actually means, is: "Well intentioned, but dumb law that we can not assure being in complete compliance with" So it is not about a "chemical", but the element lead. Lead is a metallic element, as is aluminum. So if yu want to be absolutely sure that you get no lead exposure whatsoever. Don't use anything made out of metal. You could go with plastic, but then you need to panic about BPA. Or maybe paper products, but there's a risk of formaldehydes. BTW, I would eat the label because there is no telling what trace elements are in the ink, the paper or the adhesive! **Q: I want to use them in food company, is there any certificate for contacting food?** A: This is made in China, so any such certificate is nearly meaningless.
