Careful With Marquette
Their "Porcelain" exterior is a non-fired type of paint, I think, or mine was not fully fired. The coating on the bottom fused itself to my glass cooktop on first use -- Yes, I carefully washed both the cooktop and the pan before use, and NO, there was no debris on the cooktop. I use other cast iron cooking vessels from cheap Chinese sources as well as Le Creuset, etc, on several glass cooktops/ranges and have had no hint of a problem, so I know what I'm doing. Small portions (about 1/4 inch or less in a couple of places) of the "paint" coating on the Marquette pan fused to the glass and came off the pan. It cost over $600 to replace just the glass of the cooktop. I called Marquette; sent plenty of photos. First they said, of course, it just can't happen. Just blew me off. On further discussion they said to send the pan back and they'd send a new one. I asked to be compensated for the ruined cooktop. They refused to do that. By the way, the fellow I was working with on this was the president of Marquette Castings. I also asked to at least have the shipping reimbursed for returing the pan. The fellow refused. I asked them why they'd even want the pan back. I suspect they'd probably strip the paint off and try to re-coat it and send it back to me. If their coating is as good as they say it is, it seems quite clear their surface prep was defective. They could see the chips down to the bare casting from my photos. From this all I had low confidence in ever receiving something I'd risk putting on my cook top again, so I elected to quit there and put no more money into the experience -- $600 plus the pan was enough for me -- I surrendered. I'll just give the pan to someone who knows what they're getting and uses it on a range or a grill or a campfire that has less risk of needing a costly fix if the coating of the pan comes off on it. Will I buy again from Marquette? No way. Defective product is one thing that happens from time to time, but supplier indifference to problems is intolerable and likely will not change. Fool me once, shame on you . . . and you know the next part of that saying. I bought a cheap Chinese grill pan to replace it, and it works fine. By the way, if you go to the Marquette site, you will find their pans are cast in China and finished in the US. I try to buy US as much as possible, and yes, I was trying to get around the high prices of the beautiful cast iron from Le Creuset and Staub. One more thing -- heavy cooking vessels need comfortable handles. The pan handle design used by Marquette is spindly and the most uncomfortable of any I've used. I was willing to overlook that to patronize a US company. Oh well, I just ran into the wrong people . . . .

Heavy cast iron with coating works great!
This pan is heavy, cast iron. This is it's only negative.Coating has stayed well. Cleans easily. Cooks great with perfect grill marks. The pressure top is great with steaks, pork chops, and chicken for keeping the consistency of grill marks. I would recommend this to any who can lift a heavier pan easily.

Seems worth the investment
I did not purchase this item for myself, thus I have not used it. However I purchased 3 pans of this type. In my opinion this pan had the nicest enamel both outside and most importantly inside. The pan is also large enough to grill several sandwiches at once. I would say 4 if you are using regular sandwich bread. However only two if you use nice artisinal bread.Personally I would have kept this pan for myself if I took the time to make nice sandwiches, however that is not a focus in my kitchenI could not give this product 5 stars because I did not use it even one time.

Get this pan!
This pan is amazing. Been stuck inside cooking with no access to a grill and this is a game changer. This is my new favorite piece of cookware and I find excuses to use it. Its a cast iron pan so like any cast iron pan you have to give it a little time to heat up but once it's there you are ready to grill. I'm convinced the other buyers here did not know how to use this pan properly and that's why there are some lower reviews. If the pan gets very hot at a low setting, great! Use that lower setting. Bugers and steaks have been amazing with perfect grill lines. Looking forward to doing chicken, salmon, and veggies.

Marquette Castings is a great company!
I love Marquette Castings. Their Dutch oven is awesome, I bought one in 2017 as a much more reasonable alternative to a le creuset. The quality is identical, and I prefer the design of Marquette and it’s story as a small start up company in Detroit. I bought this grill pan in bright red and it weighs a ton (seriously) - very solid and well built, beautifully crafted. Just extremely heavy! Have fun. Buy Marquette !

Heavy duty
This skillet is heavy duty. Not for those lacking in arm strength. Having said that it will be one that can be passed down to the next generation. Finish looks very thick and slick to the touch.

Can’t get any better. I didn’t know my cooking could improve, but with the set I’m impressed. It really is amazing. Recommend this product to everyone.

Everything Sticks!
I have other pots from this company and I love them! I couldn't wait to get this and I am so disappointed. EVERYTHING sticks to it. I have tried everything and it doesn't help. It is impossible to clean after the meat gets stuck. The third time I used it I made hamburgers and ended up throwing the pan with the burnt stuck meat in the garbage. I wish I knew what the people did that is giving this good reviews.
