Review: Color stays on straw, not in drink; doesn't get soggy - These Gusto paper straws come in a nice, reclosable box where the tabs fit into the front to hold it fairly securely. The company made a big deal about food safe ink. Between that and the box having a bit of the straws' color on the inside edge, I wondered if the ink would bleed into my kids' water since we keep cups on the table all day. I left a green-striped straw in a colorless glass filled with water longer than all night. Not only was there absolutely no ink bleed, but also the paper didn't even begin to unravel. The paper was just as tight as when I had put it in the water. These straws are a standard diameter for really liquidy beverages, not for milkshakes, smoothies, or thicker liquids. The cost averages to 4 cents per straw. This is half of what I was paying at a local big retailer. Happy kids, happy me, and happier environment using paper and not plastic!

**Q: Are the paper straws individually wrapped?**
A: No they're not. These drinking straws are so sturdy you could use them more than once. I will be buying more

**Q: Where is the documentation for the bpa free claim? i see no evidence to support this claim from an anonymous seller and manufacturer.**
A: BPA is normally an ingredient found in plastics. These are paper straws, 100% biodegradable.  I find them to be sturdy, functional and I bought them because I was looking for a good alternative to the plastic straws that my grandchildren go through so fast.

**Q: Are these straws gluten free?**
A: this is a new one on me.  all i know is that they are paper, tightly rolled.  can't imagine they have gluten in them, but how do i know?

**Q: Odd question, I know, but how would these be for a small child to cut with a scissors?**
A: They are a durable straw, sturdy enough to rinse and use again. With a sharp pair of sturdy scissors, a child with good hand coordination should be able to cut one in half. No kid scissors.
