Really helps to have sharp blades though, I went through 8 blades in 45 minutes. **Q: Does this use standard one-sided razor blades** A: Yes, this uses a single edge razor blade exactly like the small hand held scrapers use. **Q: Would this be a good aquarium algae scraper?** A: Yes - I've found nothing that even comes close to working as good as this tool for removing algae from glass. Wish I'd found it years ago. **Q: Will this screw onto the end of an extension pole?** A: I guess that would depend on the extension pole and what sort of clamp was mounted on the pole.
