Not saying I'd recommend that being these shoot a tiny pellet at around half the speed of a .22LR, but I did. Now, I am 39 and bought one for my son. I put a budget Vortex scope on it and got it sighted in for him today. Shooting at an desertcart box and it was putting pellets in the same holes at about 10 yards. For the price, it is a great little gun. Perfect for kids who are a bit smaller built and would struggle pumping a non C02 gun. The light weight helps with that as well. I would recommend. Began recalling all the negative reviews I read before buying. Called Crosman - they set me up for warranty repair. As i was about to pack it, I suddenly discovered the problem: operator error. There's a tiny slide/latch on the magazine to line up the clip. Had totally forgotten about it. I put in a new cylinder, loaded her up, set the guide latch, and every issue I mentioned was immediately solved. Worked great once again! I'm so embarrassed. If you 'rapid fire' the gun you'll get fewer shots. Be sure to place a drop of Pellgunoil on the tip of each cylinder when installing. **Q: where does the co2 go in at** A: If you look closely at the end of the front stock where it meets the barrel, you'll see a round cap. The cap unscrews and come off. You then take the CO2 cartridge, put a drop of Pellgunoil on it, and insert it into the opening small end first. Reinstall the round cao, and tighten it down. As you tighten it it pierces the CO2 cartridge. I usually, with the rifle unloaded, pull the trigger once in a safe direction to verify that the CO2 cartridge is pierced and. If the gun goes pop, you are ready to load and shoot. If the trigger just clicks with no pop, then maybe the cap needs to be a bit tighter. My 1077 has been 100% reliable for me, and an accurate fun shooter. The trigger isn't real good, but despite that, I can get tight one hole groups off a rest. **Q: can it shoot bbs?** A: I would be interested in knowing why it would not shoot BBs since BBs are .177 inch in diametre, the same as the stated bore diametre. I would not recommend shooting BBs through a rifled barrel because they would wear the rifling, but the question was whether the rifle WOULD shoot BBs, not whether it is recommended. **Q: I have a Crossman 1077. Any recommendation of which Scope would fit this model?** A: I bought the Simmons ".22 Mag 4X 32mm "Scope from wmart for $31. It is correct for this gins small weaver rails. and it is wonderful. And now that I did the mods to the gun to Fix the leaks, and correct the barrel slop I do absolutley Love this gun. (Don't ask me why!!) While the concept of the product is good. The product quality and CO2 cartridge seal and small mesh filter are not reliable, or in my humble opinion not good value. So I decided to investigate some of the perceived qualty part issues with this rifle, given that the manufacturer continues to sell this product knowing it could break down within a year. The number one issue, is it continues to lose its CO2 gas due to a defective seal that the manufacturer continue to assemble in this rifle. Please see the parts in question in the pics above. Given this is my 5th crossman rifle I decided to disassemble the rifle I just purchased "again" as it would not seal, despite just receiving it to find out why it was releasing the gas before I return it. As you can see there are a number of components that are depicted in the pics. The main item seems to be the red CO2 powerlet gas cartridge seal that is supposed to seal the gas from escaping. This is the number one problem with all the crossman rifle products i have purchased thru Amazon.it does not seal allowing the gas to escape despite utilizing the cartridge lube oil before inserting. The oring seems to lose its sealing characteristics not allowing the cartridge to seal effectively. It seems to work for around 4 to 5 months then the gas tends to escape. This has happened to everyone of my rifle purchases despite my continued dialog with Amazon and the manufacturer. The seal seems to be made of the incorrect material allowing it to harden over time, therefore not allowing the cartridge to seal effectively and lose it memory!! As outlined earlier the rifle works effectively when it is not losing it's seal, but overall the product quality is poor for long time use. This will be my last purchase of this product. Sorry to go on, but buyer beware when purchasing this crossman product.
