There are plenty of aftermarket motors. Many are cheaper. Some require modification before installation. But I wanted to go OEM, and this was exactly the model # I replaced on my 16 year old condenser. Exact replacement, no messing around to make it fit or work. Yes, you pay more, but as a DIY'er, still less than half the cost of an HVAC shop.

THIS IS NOT A GE motor is is some Mexico made by Genteq for Protech. It is a copy GE look-a-like not a GE. It may work form fit and function but not GE branded Original Equipment Manufacturer. Just be aware what you are buying it is not GE as advertised. Also, the MARS capacitor as advertised is also not MARS brand it is made in Pakastan for Protech. I was very disappointed because I chose this supplier because specifically said GE.
