Review: Backcountry campers will absolutely LOVE this Lantern!!! - I heard about this product from Aron Snyder on the Gritty Bowmen podcast (awesome western hunting podcast by the way - check it out if you are interested in hunting the west!) and I must say that it is one of my favorite pieces of gear for hunting in the backcountry. This unit is extremely lightweight (weighs about 4 ounces) and comes with its own handy bag to protect it from bumping around in your pack. It is extremely durable - the globe is actually made out of steel mesh (the description says something about a frosted glass cover which is incorrect - there is no glass in this unit). I pack in about 4 miles (and 3000 vertical feet) to my high country camp in Colorado and had no issue with the mantle breaking - I do carry spares just in case. It is super easy to use - has its own striker so it is easy to reach out of your sleeping bag and fire it up early in the morning without any effort. It is extremely bright (and therefore super hot - don't put anything flammable in close proximity because it will catch them on fire) but has an adjustable burner so you can adjust the brightness to what you need. This unit is extremely fuel efficient - I used it all week in the morning and the evening and my fuel canister still feels totally full. It has a handy hook on a wire handle so you can hang it up around camp if you want. It uses the same type of fuel that you would use on a Jetboil type of stove so it is handy to have a couple of things that use a common item when your camp is carried in on your back. I like the rugged mesh protective top verses a fragile glass. This makes it much more packable. The light it puts off is sufficient for illuminating a tent or a small sitting area.
