Review: Reliable and Fast Class 4 - I got this during Black Friday week on desertcart for less than a dollar per gigabyte, but even at regular price it seems like a good deal. I bought it to replace the 16GB Sandisk chip that came with my Droid X. I'm glad I did, because not only does this Transcend have twice the storage capacity as the micro SDHC card I was replacing, it is considerably faster as well (which was a bit of a surprise as both chips are class 4). For those of you who are thinking of buying this for the same reason I did - to upgrade the amount of storage on your smart phone - it's easy to transfer all the files and folders (apps, data, photos, etc.) on your old card to the new one. I was wondering if it was as easy as just doing a standard Windows file transfer operation, and indeed it is. My notebook only has one SD card slot, so I created a backup folder on my C: drive. I plugged my original micro SDHC card into the micro-to-SD adapter that came with the new Transcend and put it in the SD slot in my notebook. Then all I did was select every file and folder in the root directory of my old card and drag it to the temporary backup folder. Then I put the new chip in the notebook's SD slot, selected every folder and file in the backup folder, and dragged everything over to the new chip from the backup folder. No hidden files to worry about not being copied; all my apps still worked perfectly after I put the new chip in my phone. During this transfer operation and subsequent testing I noticed that read speeds ranged between 15 and 22 MB/second. Write speeds are about 4 to 6 MB/second. While these specs are in line with a class 4 chip, you may find the write speed a bit slow if you do a lot of high-speed, full-resolution image taking (such as shooting multiple frames per second with a digital SLR camera, for example). This was not a concern for me, though, so I didn't test it. After installation I noticed that my Gallery and file manager apps accessed files considerably more quickly than on my old Sandisk chip, which was a pleasant surprise. For example, when I play a movie, it loads and begin playing the movie twice as quickly as it did with the old card. Formatted capacity is 29.7 gigabytes, which is perfectly normal for formatted storage devices rated 32 GB. There are other reviews here which get into the binary vs. decimal definition of "gigabyte", so I won't get into that here. Suffice it to say when it says "29.7 gigabytes free", you're not getting cheated. Overall, a very nice product, and I'm glad I decided to get it. Review: Best in Its Class - For price, warranty, speed, and dependability, look no further. This is the best of the bunch. To be fair, it is not perfect. There are pros and cons. . . PROS . 1. The unit comes with an SD adapter. As a result, it is usable for many electronic devices. . 2. The speed is fast for a Class 4. . The write speed range is between 2.8-5.3 mb/s. Most of the write activity is at 4.0 mb/s. . The read/data transfer rate is between 13 and 25 mb/s. Most of the transfer activity concentrates at 19 mb/s. . I use this storage device in my Sansa MP3 Player. I can not tell the difference in speed between the built-in 8 gb. internal memory or the Transcend 32 gb. In fact, I prefer the recordings on the latter. The music sounds better. . 3. It is the only product with a lifetime limited warranty. So, the material and construction have to be high quality. . . . Transcend is not stupid. Too many defects and short life make the product unprofitable to sustain. . 4. The manufacturer is a multi-billion Taiwan based firm. It is not a "fly-by night" company that is going to disappear and not fulfill its legal service obligations. . 5. When the card arrived, I put it in my Droid X. It told me the SD card was ready to be removed. I told it to mount, and it again told me the card was ready to be removed. I took it out, inserted it again, no luck. I read online that sometimes the cards needed to be formatted in a computer. I used a USB reader to try and format the card on my Windows 7 desktop. It said the card couldn't be formatted. I put it in my Windows XP SP3 netbook and tried to format it but got the same message I did from Win 7. I tried it in my Nikon and my roommate's Panasonic, both with the included Transcend microSD to SD adapter and my Sandisk adapter. No luck. I decided to try one more thing and download the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool. It's supposed to work even when the default Windows utility does not. No luck. Throughout all of this, I made sure the above devices would read my 1GB, 8GB, and 16GB SanDisk microSDHC cards. They all did so without a problem. I can only conclude that the 32GB microSDHC card by Transcend was a dud. Thankfully, Amazon offered me a replacement. If the replacement Transcend card does not work, I'll make sure to stay away from all Transcend products and advise my friends - who often look to me for tech advice and support - to do the same. I'll come back and update this when the new card arrives. UPDATE 4/13 - I got the new card a week ago. This one works right out of the packaging. I just slipped it in my Droid X and was rewarded with ~ 29GB of free space. I've been holding off on writing this to make sure there weren't any issues, and there haven't been. I changed my review to four stars. It'd be five if the first one didn't arrive defective. ## Frequently Bought Together - Transcend 4 GB Class 4 microSDHC Flash Memory Card TS4GUSDHC4 - SZHAIYIJIN SD Card Reader for iPhone, Memory Card Reader with USB Camera Adapter Plug and Play Trail Game Camera SD Card Viewer Supports SD and TF Card Micro SD Card Adapter for iPad No App Required - Multi Charging Cable,3.5A Multi Charger Cable,Braided 4 in 1 Charging Cable,Multi USB Cable, Fast Charging Cord with IP/Type C/Micro USB Port for Cell Phones/Tablets/Samsung Galaxy & More(2Pack 4Ft) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.fi/products/16485733-transcend-4-gb-class-4-microsdhc-flash-memory-card-ts4gusdhc4](https://www.desertcart.fi/products/16485733-transcend-4-gb-class-4-microsdhc-flash-memory-card-ts4gusdhc4) --- *Product available on Desertcart Finland* *Store origin: FI* *Last updated: 2026-10-05*
