The blade is not very sharp so it is better for wacking weeds rather than grass. **Q: I live on the big island of hawaii on windward side and the weeds are waist high, real jungle. would this work?** A: Yes on grass and weeds. **Q: What is the blade length?** A: The blade on this whip is 9 inches long.
