The first one I purchased outside of desertcart in 2007 and is still working well. I had a girlfriend who had a roommate who had one. I was so smitten with it and couldn’t find it anywhere. The roommate told me she purchased at a local health food store. I was able to finally track down the manufacturer through the an expired patent on the Krakanut. He was a very nice older gentleman who I believe is the father of the current manufacturer’s . He told me he was no longer manufacturing them, but had one laying around he would sell to me. We got to talking and he even offered to sell me the company along with all dyes and such to manufacture the Krakanut. What a fool I am for not taking him up on the offer. Anyway I am happy to see that the Krakanut lives on and is available through desertcart. I bought both because I have a macadamia nut tree. It is the only nutcracker I have found that easily cracks them while keeping the whole nut intact. My previous method of a rag and hammer only created nut shell shards. I highly recommend. My only issue is with the new one the ratcheting and sliding function along the shaft doesn’t always work as smoothly as the previous one. I’ll try a little vegetable oil on the shaft to if that helps. Review: Best Heavy Duty Nutcracker - This is by far the best nutcracker I have ever seen. Even the Brazil nuts crack open with very little pressure on the handle. (Even gets the nut out perfectly whole most of the time.) I liked it so much that I bought another one for my son. Also the clear plastic shield allows you watch the nut being cracked while stopping any shell fragments from flying through the air. I will 100% buy this product again if mine should ever wear out. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ BEST nutcracker available *by S***Y on September 28, 2020* This is a super heavy duty workhorse. I bought mine YEARS ago (can't even remember when) and it has been great all these years. Only recently have I had any issue at all but I found cleaning the main shaft and oiling it fixed the ratcheting problem it was having and works like new once again. Still... I love this thing so much I'm buying another one just in case anything ever happens to this one that I am unable to correct. Nothing else I've found seems to come close. I use mine almost exclusively for macadamia nuts and hickory nuts. Two of the toughest shells to crack. This opens them with relative ease. Would give 10 stars if I could.
