When this arrived we took it out and immediately started hitting, as pointed out in several other reviews it has many positive attributes. 1) My favorite thing may be being able to access my kid's swing without worrying about taking a line drive to the face. 2) It offers immediate feedback as to what type of hit it would be, there is a distinctive sound when you get a good hit and a little hit. You can get and idea of of pop up or dribbler. 3) The sound it produces is a great confidence booster to help younger players improve the mental aspect of their game....which can be as important as the physical aspects to some kids. 4) You really have the ability to view every aspect of a kid's swing, including the set up at a close range to make sure they are starting correctly to begin with. 5) It is comfortable to use and has two sized balls for baseball or softball. We are using the softball now but will switch to the baseball as our daughter gets better hand-eye cordination. 6) It's FUN! I had three kids at my house yesterday and they couldn't wait to hit it. It seems like it will be very durable too, well made. We have already noticed a huge improvement in our daughter's swing and hitting the ball really well. Larry, LNC Sports, LLC **Q: Is this retractable?** A: No, the stick is stationary, not retractable... it is fairly durable for travel, just don’t slam it in the door!! **Q: Is the training stick safe for use with composite bats?** A: It is well constructed and made for use with legal softball or baseball bats. **Q: How big are both ends in comparison to the size of a baseball? The white end appears smaller and the yellow end about the same size. Am I correct?** A: The white end is slightly smaller than a baseball. The yellow end is slightly larger than a baseball. I started my son with the yellow end, then transitioned to the white end. This has been amazing for her. My husband is able to adjust the ball to teach her the different types of throws so she knows about where it will be coming at her and know where to swing the bat!
