You have find the sweet spot of snug-ish without being too tight under the front legs/pits. However, it was easy to adjust the fit around the chest and under the arms and it stays where you put it. Note: If you have it too loose it will fall to side when walking your dog. Love the matching leash but wish it was longer. It's a great length if you want to keep your pup closer to you. We use our retractable leash instead.
