Can he escape from this harness?** A: I have a 150lb Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. True to their breed he is a puller when he needs to "get the news". He doesn't like tractor trailer trucks and has tried to back out of this harness several times and has not succeeded. Harness is well constructed! A bit tricky to adjust as it cannot be done while it's on, so required multiple on and offs before we got it right. Much more comfortable and distributes the "pulling" away from the major joints and throat, love the handle on the back which is perfect for waiting to cross the street. It looks like both in the pictures.** A: In training dog not to pull forward, use the front clip in front of dog’s chest. When dog gets ahead of you and pulls the front clip allow you to stop the forward pulling by letting you turn the dog sideways, to the the dog’s left or to the dog’s right. Assuming you are walking or running behind the dog and the dog has gotten ahead of you and has started pulling on the leash, When the leash is attached to the front clip, the front clip acts like a steering wheel, helping you to cue the dog to turn toward his left if you pull the leash towards the dog’s left, or to turn towards his right if you pull the leash towards the dog’s right. You can then stop the dog’s forward pulling motion and call him to come to you, then start walking again with your dog at your side. When training your dog to walk beside you, always hold the leash short enough (for large dogs, no longer than a foot or two between the dog and your hand) so the dog does not get so far away that you have to constantly drag him back to you. The back clip allows the dog unfettered freedom to move straight forward, like a sled dog pulling a sled or cart..,or you, at the other end of his leash. Using the back clip creates a kind of tug game between you and the dog, with the dog leading you where he wants to go, rather than you leading the dog. If you want a dog that pulls you or a sled, use the back clip. If you want your dog to walk politely by your side or to run with you at your side, train this non-pulling behavior by using the front clip.
