After that It was perfectly balanced even when I had just one fat Laura Geller bush in the far corner...which by the way is too fat for most of the other racks like this. The unit is made out of thick black plastic not cardboard. The brown covering took about 5 minutes to remove though I must admit I didn't bother at first. The assembly took about a minute or less and there's room for all my brushes. I'm so pleased that I will be sending one to my very fussy make-up obsessed daughter-in-law.
