Not that good for advanced solvers *by N***J on Reviewed in Sweden on 19 October 2021* The book helps to explain beginner method, in the beginning, and rest half of the book is towards speed solving, explaining intuitive F2L, and then CFOP via 2-Look approach.Covers the basic concepts for speed solving, quite well.I actually bought two books here out of curiosity:#1. David Goldman (this one)#2. Dan HarrisIf I compare them:I found Dan Harris(#2) covers more topic than this one(#1), at half the price, and recommend #2, as value for money, and in terms of better overall coverage.Both writers speak their minds while writing in the book, both equally good in that aspect, both are well understandable and followable.Below a more detailed comparison for easier decision making.A) Number of pages + content : #2 has far more pages and contents. Recommendation = #2B) Readability (font) : #1 has bigger font than #2. Recommendation = #2C) Print quality : #2 has more professional printing than compared to #1. Recommendation = #2D) 4x4 cube algorithm: #2 cover them, #1 does not do well for it. Recommendation = #2E) Intuitive F2L : Both books cover it, but #2 covers it better than #1. Recommendation = #1 => This actually is most useful part in speed solving for beginners++.F) Beginner/Advanced : #1 feels like complete book on speed solving, and beginners and advanced solvers both gain from it. #2 is more inclined towards beginner speed solving, and covers it partly to the extent that beginners gain more from it, than relatively advanced solvers.Overall recommendation (I would recommend #2 clearly here):Both books are equally helpful for beginners, with #1 has slightly bigger pictures and font, but thin pages., and #2 gives an impression of "much higher coverage of speed solving techniques" with better paper and print quality, and suited for all level of players.Also #2 has half the price as compared to #1. So clear recommendation for #2 here.Besides books, I think online links also covers most things described in any book on the topic. And for ultra advanced players, then online available material is best suited.But having a complete reference book like #2(Dan Harris), has some advantage that we not waste lot of time surfing through the internet finding "most" optimal algorithms, and can get hold of a book, mark important algorithms and practice them over and again, as they are written by professionals who know what speed solving is.
