Another good thriller from Freida McFadden!
Cassie runs a bookstore, barely scraping by with her friend. Despite the financial struggle, she can’t let go of the shop, which she inherited from her deeply devoted grandparents.Cassie rarely dates, but when Joel visits her bookstore, she believes she’s found the perfect man. He’s strikingly handsome, attentive, well-mannered, a touch romantic, and a doctor. Even more surprisingly, he seems to genuinely like her back. There’s just one complication: his ex-girlfriend, Francesca.Francesca, now the ex, dated Joel for years, expecting marriage and children. Stylish, an exceptional chef, and stunningly beautiful, she bears an uncanny resemblance to Cassie—or is it the other way around? Now alone, Francesca watches as Joel dates someone who seems like a younger version of herself.Everything Cassie hears about Francesca and how amazing she is, the more she worries about her own relationship with Joel, especially when she starts feeling like someone is stalking her. Someone doesn't want her to be Joel. Is it Francesca? Is her life in danger?Another good thriller from Freida McFadden! The Ex had me speeding through my audiobook to reach the denouement, which was quite interesting with a couple of good twists.Cliffhanger: No4/5 Fangs

A little confusing….
This wasn’t your typical psychological thriller with twists and turns. It took a different path completely so you really couldn’t have seen it coming. Instead of an “ohh or Ah-ha!” It was more like “what?” And scratching your head or rubbing your eyes wondering if you missed something. But you didn’t. Frieda likes to play games with her characters and plot. In this book there is a doctor named Joel who breaks up with his Italian girlfriend in the beginning. They’ve been together for many years, lived together and she was expecting a marriage proposal not an exit door. She was devastated and obsessed with getting Joel back. 6 months later he begins dating a new woman who is 10 years younger than he. Her name is Cassie. She owns a dying bookstore. At one date to the zoo and the couple run into Joel’s closest friends. The wife of one of his buddies is extremely rude and does everything she can to make sure Cassie knows she will never compare to Joel’s ex girlfriend Francesca - and even makes the dig that she (Cassie) resembles Francesca but is no where near as pretty. Throughout the book, Cassie feels like she’s being followed, strange things happen to her business and apartment in addition to weird phone calls. All along she thinks it’s Francesca the perfect ex. And then we find out that it’s not at all who you think and nor would you have guessed. Interesting read? Yes but it wasn’t nearly as captivating as some of her other books. So for that reason I give it a 3 ⭐️

Unraveling
I think this could be Fried McFadden as best book yet. The plot was woven so subtlely that when the twists come, and when they do it's fast it makes you wonder if you read something wrong. This is the book to read!!

Good and Twisted
The best part of embarking on a 100 book journey for the year 2025, is discovering Freida McFadden. Her books are like candy, you can eat them quickly, they don't upset your stomach, and you're never full. This book had a great twist, despite the turns and surprises, it was pretty easy to follow the tangled web she weaved. There are no spoilers in this review; just read it.

Somewhat confusing near the end.
It was ok. Not as suspenseful as most, time line of significant character doesn’t match up, near the end it got really confusing like I had to read Chapter 49 several times and finally just moved on still not understanding, but hang in there, it does get explained.
