Update: I contacted customer service and they responded quickly—they’re sending a new unit to replace the leaking one. Excellent service and great tasting water, updated to 5 stars.Original post: I was so excited to get this and as soon as I rinsed it off and filled it with water, the plastic around the spout is leaking. It’s behind the valve, it seems, so it may just be faulty manufacturing? Water is slowly dripping from the bottom of the plastic piece that wraps around the spout. Idk, I might try the glass pitcher instead, major bummer. I love the concept and the water tastes great, but a redesign seems like it would help with quality of overall product.

This is a great filter. It was easy to assemble and the water tastes very good. In fact I wasn't using it for my ice and I could taste the difference.

I purchased this item as I could taste chemicals in my water and wanted something larger than a Brita pitcher. . At first I was incredibly pleased with this purchase as the water tasted great. The filter definitely worked. The container was a bit bigger than I thought it would be, but I managed to make space in my refrigerator so I could keep the water cold in there and remove the container to drain the contents each morning for my pot of coffee.However, after about 7 months, I noticed water dripping a bit. Over the following weeks, it increased. I did not realize it was so bad until I opened the vegetable drawer directly below the shelf on which this unit sat, and it was full of about 2 cups of water!! SO DISAPPOINTING!!The way to release the water to flow from the bottom is a spring loaded 'toggle' push button. It does not automatically stay open, you must continuously hold it open for the water to flow. After a period of time, the spring wears down. The unit will no longer hold ANY water inside without leaking.I bought extra filters, so I will use it until these are used up, but to use the unit, I have to fill it, and let it sit over the sink to complete the filtering process, then empty the water into another 'water tight' container for storage in the refrigerator for use. I would recommend this company redesign the 'spigot' to be a turn valve that can stay open without having to keep it pushed open with your finger and toggles completely closed!! Until there are improvements I warn you to stay away!!

Use this every day for all most of our drinking water. Filters slow, but supped to work well on metals and micro plastics. You need to replace charcoal filter once a month ($13) and primary filter once a year ($25).Only spilled once putting in the fridge.Only gripe is that it’s all plastics. Would like more metal or glass to help cut out plastics.

I love the flavor (I'm super picky about water taste and Brita etc don't filter enough for me) so I was happy about that. I love the huge capacity and it was easy to use in my fridge. BUT the gasket that should stop up the water failed after 6 months, so I had to take this out of the fridge and put a bowl under it. It drips so much that it fills up the bowl in a few hours; it overflows overnight. It's basically not usable now. It cost so much and I'm quite poor so I'm not sure what to do next. It really sucks that there doesn't seem to be a way to fix this. I dismantled it but there's no way to fix the lever or gasket. AND THEN it turned out Lifestraw has great customer service. I left the same review above on their site, & they reached out and replaced the whole kit and caboodle, very quickly so I barely had to buy any bottled water. I really appreciated that especially because it's expensive to try to find another system that filters so well and tastes so delicious. I'm still not thrilled about disposable culture, I wish I'd been able to get the old one repaired since just one piece was failing. Nonetheless, I'll probably re-purchase this if it happens again in 6 mo.

It leaks from the spout after 3 months of one adults use. It was great until that started. I will be in contact with them about their warranty. The filters stopped passing water after about 1/10th of the volume they claim. maybe all the water I get is just that dirty. Either way it was great until the leak started.Update: They were very straight forward and easy to deal with and are sending a warranty replacement.

I should have listened to the reviews. The spout is awful and leaks and pops off. I had to put a little shim behind it to get it to stop leaking when I wasn't getting water, but if that fell out water was going everywhere. The spout was also really difficult to clean. I love the way the water tastes after being filtered, but I just couldn't deal with the frustrations anymore.

I looked for a water filtering dispenser I could keep in my fridge and easily grab a glass of water. In that the water in my small town of ~800 peeps, I was thrilled to find one such filter by the same company that makes those 'emergency straws' for drinking river water directly. This thing filters out 99.9% of bacteria like E. Coli AND parasites like Giardia, as well as the microplastics that are everywhere! It even reduces lead, mercury and other heavy metals, chemicals like PFAS, pesticides, herbicides and chlorine leaving clean, refreshing, sweet-smelling water!I know of no other filtering system that does all that. It's very easy to set up; with simple directions for a more than 4 liter dispenser.I love mine!
