## Description

Avalon 3 Temperature Stainless Steel Bottom Loading Water Cooler with Child Safety Lock is made with an innovative stainless steel body. It offers a choice of 3 water temperatures. The easy-to-use push button spouts make it so much more convenient to use. Simply press the temperature button of choice and allow the water to flow from the given spout. The machines highly efficient compressor makes the cold water crisp and ice cold at approximately 47° F without the need of adding ice cubes to your drink. The hot faucet is hot enough to cook one's tea or coffee or any other steaming hot beverage at approximately 185° F. Due to the extremely hot water, we've added a child safety lock on the hot water faucet. We have incorporated a nightlight that can be switched on from the back of the unit. This will make filling up your cup at night so much more simple and easy. The dispensing area is 12x3x10 inches with 9 inches of space below the spouts. This will accommodate most large cups or bottles. There is a removable drip tray at the bottom of the dispensing area to catch any drips or spills. This water cooler is bottom loading with a cabinet to hold 3 or 5 gallon bottles. The water is pumped from the bottle through the machine. There is also an empty-bottle indicator that will light up when the bottle needs to be replaced. The water cooler is UL listed and complies with all standards of Energy Star. The unit dimensions are 41x12x13 inches.

Review: Parts work fine - I have had this water cooler for well over 2 years now, no parts have failed. The Unit works as expected. Here is the problem though. Even though this water cooler has the ability to clean itself using ozone, the user is still required to manually clean the internal reservoir every 3 months to get rid of mold that can start growing. That is fine, I don't mind cleaning it but the design of this unit is not engineered in a way so that lay people can easily clean the inside reservoir. It is a a hassle to take it apart and reassemble. There are very thin electrical wires hanging in the way, the tubes a hard to pull off and reconnect, the manual does a poor job of stating where all these parts belong, it is very easy to lose parts if you drop them in the inside. The unit uses non-captive screws that can easily be lost. If this unit was made to be used and cleaned/maintained by lay people, it should have been designed to be easy to dissassemble, taken out and thrown in the dishwasher, and easy to re-assemble. I gave this product a 3 of 5 because it does actually work as advertised, I have owned this for over 2 years and it still heats/cools water without a problem. I would have given it a full 5 starts if I could clean this thing easily. I have also looked into getting this professionally cleaned, Avalon does not have a contract with anyone to clean these units. Also water delivery companies generally only service water coolers bought directly from them, so that does not help.
Review: Good machine, with an information gap in the User Manual, NOW FILLED IN - The dispenser looks and works as described so far. It was easy to set up and runs relatively quietly. I am using a 4 gallon bottle and had no trouble fitting it to the machine. With one exception, the manual describes setup and operation clearly and accurately. The one informational exception is the self-cleaning function, for which a simple direction is given for activating the cleaning cycle, but nothing about what to expect after you do so. I found nothing in the manual to indicate how long the self-cleaning cycle lasts, whether or not you can use the dispenser while the cycle is running, or what, if anything, the user has to do once it ends. Given the dearth of info about this feature, I feel that I might as well have bought a machine without it and saved some money. Update: I e-mailed a copy of this review to Avalon on a Sunday night and asked for a comment from them. I received the following response the next morning: "Our manuals do need a lot of updating and we are actually in the process of doing that now. We apologize for the lack of information but I would be more than happy to provide you with more information about the self cleaning feature. I have included some steps about the self clean feature below. Once the cleaning is complete there is nothing required of the user, it will begin functioning as normal on its own. Activating Self-Cleaning Function It is recommended that the self-cleaning feature be used once a week to sanitize the tanks and water lines. To activate, press the stand alone self-cleaning switch and hold in the on position for 5 seconds and release. The switch will immediately go back into the off position. The first green indicator light, also the power light, will begin to blink. This indicates the self-cleaning cycle is underway. Ozone will be produced and injected into the water system, it will kill bacteria and bio-films typically found in water dispensers. By the end of the cleaning cycle the ozone will convert into harmless oxygen and will be emitted into the air. When the self-cleaning cycle is complete the first indicator light will stop blinking and will be steady on as it is also the power light. Caution: This self-cleaning cycle will take 90 minutes to complete. During this time do not dispense and drink the water. We recommend you do this during a period of time when the unit will not be in use for example overnight. During the cycle you may smell some of the ozone, this is normal. I hope this helps answer your questions but if there is anything else that you have questions about please don't hesitate to ask, we are more than happy to help." I was very impressed with the speed and thoroughness of Avalon Support and I now have no second thoughts about the purchase. **Q: When does that weird taste go away? Or does it?**
A: So we haven’t had any weird taste issues since we purchased it (like over a year ago). However, today we noticed a really bad plastic taste coming from the water dispensed. I double checked directly from the jug I hooked up and the water tasted fine. So something in the machine is contaminating the water or something. I just ran the ozone cleaning option and hopefully that helps.

**Q: I can't get the drip tray to pop out! it feels like i'm going to break it if i pull any harder. is there a trick to it??**
A: Hannah I am not sure. I just recently purchased mine - I know I snapped the drip tray in. After seeing your question I tried to get mine out and was unable. I also went on Avalon's website to see if they had any instructions but their website wasn't very helpful. I am going to call them. Please let me know if you find anything out.

**Q: Has anybody else had issues with the pump not pulling water strong enough?**
A: We ordered one and pump does not work. Barely made it through the cleaning cycle but will not pull water to drink. Will be reordering another unit to see if random issue. Finders crossed!

**Q: how long does it take to fill a 16 oz. water bottle?**
A: Approximately 10 - 12 seconds to dispense 16 ounces from the room temperature spout. Both the hot and cold spouts are 2 - 3 seconds slower.

### ⭐ Avalon - What a huge let down

Worked okay for about a month. The water started coming out the cold spout at a painfully slow pace within 2 weeks of using, so I moved on to the cool spout, same happened to that spout. I finally got around to cleaning it (which is quite the chore), I followed the instructions to the T and I was happy to see the cold and cool water spouts were working properly again. 24 hours later I found a slow leak and a puddle at the bottom of the cooler and I cannot find out where it is leaking for the life of me. I’ve taken it apart and looked everywhere. I think the bottom load water coolers are nice but there is so much that can go wrong on these. I really like the ozone cleaning function but to be honest, I’m not sure if it does anything. When I cleaned it, there was still biofilm in the main water tank. I’m looking for the perfect water cooler, unfortunately this is not it! Funny, right before I cleaned this I saw the same make and model in my apartment complex near the dumpster with a note on it saying the water cooler doesn’t work, it looked brand new too. You may as well just buy a new water cooler if it’s leaking, not worth the price of getting them to repair it.
