Q: what's the difference btwn the original and the XL ??

Original and XL differ in barrel size (it's also stated on the top left of the box). Original: from 1 in to 1/2 in XL: from 1 1/4 in to 1 3/4 in. I wanted bigger curls so I chose XL. With this, I can also get small curls by using the tip of the barrel. If you want slightly smaller curls, go with the original, but they're both very similar in size (only differ by 1/2 an inch). Either one you pick, it's great product. Absolutely love it.

Q: is this dual voltage?

This curling wand is not dual voltage, it's rated at 120V. I bought one of the voltage converter for my trip last time and it worked great. Q: What are the dimensions of the barrel for the XL size?

I stand corrected. I measured it with a tape measure and at the top of the barrel it was 2 3/4" and at the base of the barred it was 4". The length of the barrel from top to base was 6 1/2". I hope this helps!

Q: What is the barrel diameter?

At its widest point, it's about one inch. Maybe an inch and a half. And it gets smaller as it goes up and ends at about a half inch.
