Excellent Consumer Grade Meter
Exactly as advertised. Works great for light duty use around the house. I use a Fluke at work, but don't need all of the features (or the Fluke price tag) at home.

It's a waterproof multimeter!
...and this I just had to see! So, as soon as the Southwire 13070T got here, I filled up my laundry tub and dropped it right into the drink. It really works! Now, it should be said that no matter how much you may like your multimeter or hate to be away from it, you shouldn't take this swimming (its waterproofing is only good for a short distance, maybe a meter or two). It's also a very bad idea to make electrical tests and measurements in a wet area. *Always* do the best you can to make your work area as dry as possible when dealing with electricity. This meter's waterproofing is only effective when the supplied test leads and rubber bung are in place on all three of the test jacks. As far as test ranges are concerned, you get AC/DC voltage up to 600 volts, resistance to 40 megohms, audible continuity (beeper) with 40 ohms or less of resistance, frequency up to 10 MHz, temperature in °C or °F, AC and DC current up to 10 amps, a diode testing range, duty cycle, and capacitance up to a whopping 4,000 microfarads. This is a true RMS multimeter using an outboard converter (still located within the meter -- it's just a separate integrated circuit on the meter's circuit board) that's good to about 2 kHz or so, far exceeding the 50 or 60 Hz figure in Southwire's specifications. True RMS capability is important when making AC voltage or current measurements from devices having distorted output waveforms (like most DC to AC power inverters, uninterruptible power supplies, light dimmers and even some variable frequency motor drivers do).The good: as previously mentioned, this is a true RMS multimeter, it's got a decent backlight, easily readable numbers along with a bar graph indication on the display, a latching continuity beeper that's fairly easy to hear in most situations and it's pretty fast to settle down on a reading. Readings appear to be taken about every two seconds, in line with the manufacturer provided specifications. When tested with precision resistors and a voltage reference, my example of the 13070T was very accurate. You even get a single LED flashlight and it works a lot better than you might expect. The flashlight only works when the meter is turned on, but it stays on until you turn it off (or the meter enters its automatic power saving mode, if you walk away from it for about 15 minutes with the power still turned on). This multimeter's case and mode selector switch feel very well made. Its power source consists of three AAA batteries, and they're actually included in the package.I've actually used this meter as a flashlight during power outages with excellent results, since none of my regular flashlights are ever up to the task. The bad: like it or not, this is ONLY an autoranging multimeter. I'm very surprised that Southwire omitted a manual ranging feature from the 13070T multimeter, and I consider the lack of manual ranging override almost inexcusable. If you want that, you'll have to move up in the product line to the 14070T. The display backlight only operates for a short period of time (about 30 seconds), where I would much prefer it stayed on (like the built in flashlight does) until it was turned off. After all, when you need the backlight, you really need the backlight!Hidden features: the automatic power off can be disabled in every measurement mode except for AC and DC current measurement. Press and hold the MODE button while turning the multimeter on. Release the button just as soon as the display self-test ends.Overall, despite its one major shortcoming (no manual ranging override), I've found myself using this multimeter quite often and do think that it's worth the money.
