Review: Great for an Ender 3 mod - I used this board to rebuild my Ender 3 and turn it into a next gen Core XY printer. The setup was easy. The wiring matched the old Ender 3 motors etc. Everything runs well and very quiet. This board is way better than the original and I've had no problem switching to Klipper. Definitely easy to recommend this board.
Review: A great board for an Ender 3, a great board for any other printer. - I initially bought this board for an Anet A6. This is a board that isn't designed as a drop in replacement for anything besides a Creality printer, but I wanted to make it work. It didn't take long to get set up. Everything went together easily- connectors were clearly labeled and have a reasonable amount of documentation with it. Only thing I had to adjust were thermistor and endstop connectors, which involve cutting down from a 3-prong connector to a 2-prong. About 10 minutes later, they were all adjusted. From there, I just had to swap wires around for the fans to get the polarity correct. Once I was in Klipper config, config was straight forward. Klipper and Marlin both have example config files you can copy over to your main config file, where you can adjust them to fit your printer best afterwards. I had a failure shortly after getting the first board, and had another one sent out. It worked so well that I bought another one as soon as I bought a second printer, a CR-10 Mini. That was plug and play, as the SKR E3 V3 was designed for Creality printers. I didn't even try the printer with the OEM board. Shortly after, I bought another one for an Ender 3 V2 I had just bought. Same deal, great performance, plug and play, yada yada. TMC2209 drivers are extremely high quality for consumer line printers. You can't hear the stepper motors. 32-bit controllers work great when running Marlin, or any other firmware that piles calculation burden on the board. Even on Klipper, where calculations are run on an external device, you can still enjoy great board support and quiet driver operation. Next printer I buy, I'll buy another SKR board. They really are great. Paired with a BTT TFT35, you get an external touchscreen GUI (after some troubleshooting and configuration). That's a lot of fun to play with. Not compatible with Klipper, everybody. If you're looking for an aftermarket board, most BTT boards will suit you well. Nothing, however, can beat the support and community around the SKR E3 V3.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: is this compatible with the e3 pro?**
A: This is compatible with the Ender 3 and Ender 3 Pro.

**Q: How do I get the color touch screen. Mine looks like an old dos computer monitor?**
A: Just push the knob for 3 seconds and it will let you switch between the modes.

**Q: Can this setup be used in other printers besides the Ender 3?**
A: Yup. I'm restoring an old Printrbot Simple Pro to run this board and a TFT35 v2.0. I downloaded Fusion360, taught myself some basics (lessons at the university of YouTube) then designed and printed up an extension housing at the front of the Simple Pro frame to mount the touchscreen. Right now I'm designing a mount for the board and internal cooling.

Then you have to configure the firmware for the board in Marlin. I don't know Marlin...wait...binges YT videos for a week.... I now know Marlin well enough to configure multiple setups. The screen is up and running, The stepper motors were all screaming...hmmm... ahhh...scans BTT Github pages for board pinouts...moved some wires around on the steppers and now ...they are now whisper quiet, like friggin ghost ninjas. Real quiet.

Still some wiring and tidying up to do, then calibrating. It is a lot like building a 3D printer from a kit with some of the parts missing and no instructions. Great fun though. So to answer your question, Yes, yes you can get this board to work with lots of printers, but it may require some wiring and it will definitely need you to configure firmware to suit it in Marlin (unless someone already built exactly what you need already, then you just upload the pre-built firmware.bin file to your board - but where's the fun in that?)

**Q: How would I be able to tell if this is compatible with my printer?**
A: Technically it’s design for the ender 3 as the name has E3 but if you know what your doing you could Configure Marlon to get it to work with any friends that is FdM.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great contoller but confusing documentation
*by D***N on December 28, 2025*

This board is a winner. I originally purchased this to replace the board in my makerbot/flashforge clone but it turned into a project of nightmare to rewire and make work, not because of the board but because of the terrible design of the printer. I ended up getting a used End 3 pro and swapped the controller out for this little beast, plugged everything up and flashed Marlin and she has been running great since. The installation into the Ender was easy as it can be basically just plug and go. The controller is fast and although there is some electronic noise when using this it barely noticeable way quieter than the printer itself. The board is fully functional for any of the bed slinger printers but you probably want to get a bigger board if you have a more advanced setup or are wanting to add more than 4 stepper motors to you machine. The size is relatively compact and the integrated heatsink is a nice touch both functionally and how it looks. Would recommend I also own the V2.0 of the board so I would recommend this line of product.
