Yes the two cables are actually "connected" or molded to each other making it appear as one cable. Can the cables be peeled apart? Yes you can peel them apart but it MAY damage the plastic casing if you don't do it safely. If it helps you, each END of the cable . . . about 5 inches (12cm) is already split. It them becomes molded together as one cable. I tried pulling my cables apart and it looks like they will separate without a problem. If you really need separate cables (not connected/molded together) buy single cables. **Q: How is the 3-foot measurement taken? Is it 3 feet from end of plug to end of plug, or 3 feet of cable, in addition to the length of the plugs?** A: Actual length of cable part is 34 5/8”. Cable from tip to tip is 37 1/2”.
