After sitting down and actually reading it this became one of my favorite stories. I make everyone I know read it as such. Such a benign and simple concept with an epic twist of an ending. I hope you can read this and enjoy the book as much as I have. ### ⭐ You better be sure you want it. *by E***O on Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2018* My niece wanted this but didn't want to spend her own money on it. She's a budding cartoonist. I was able to review it after I returned it because she got it as a gift from another relative. Here's what I think. The art work is nice, not great (or even close). The drawing is simplistic, but less so than the story. In a marketplace where kids may be taken in, products like this should be described in full. An accurate description of this book is a simple story about a cop on the moon who winds up one of two people patrolling the moon as machines replace people as service providers because over the span of time (eons perhaps) that is the only way the services can be made profitable (worthwhile) to whoever provides them. The story is told largely with drawings similar to that on the cover and the text, if aggregated, would equal the length of a very, very short paragraph. Reviews rave about the philosophical questions raised and its poignancy: both claims are highly over rated. The philosophical questions raised are as deep as a shallow puddle, and the poignancy is exceeded by any bad hearth-break western song. You really have to like comics and be a fan of minimalism for its own sake (and I mean its own sake, because the minimalism here adds nothing). You should also beware that the shipping costs, paid both ways even if you are a prime member (as I am) means that you are out the price of the book if you return it. That's right, especially for kids, this is a forced sale. Caveat emptor, if you don't like it, you are going to have to pay 50% of the book's value to have it delivered and the second 50% of its value to reurnt it. It's like buying it cheap at twice the price! UPS and Amazon are the only ones that make money on it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Charming, and Chilling *by C***R on Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2017* I didn't know what to expect, as someone who doesn't know much about the genre of graphic novellas, but I was charmed and chilled by Tom Gauld's brilliant concept and execution. The language and the drawings are spare, the lunar landscape is understandably spare, and the story packs a huge wallop. Basically, a man is in charge of a one-person police outpost on the moon at a time when the other moon settlers are giving up and going home. Yipes.
