There are two kinds of adapters: active and passive. This item is passive. I ended up having to return it. We were trying to hook up my grandma's older keyboard to her newer PC. The keyboard still had the old style, round connector. Whereas, the PC only had USB ports. We thought we just needed to convert the shape of the connector. We were wrong. This item once connected did nothing. My husband did some research and realized his mistake. We needed an active adapter.
