The A90D improved substantially over the headphone output of a Chord Mojo 2 which is very highly regarded. There is a surprising effect when hardphone listening where kick drums appear to be coming from inside your head. Clarity and impact is very impressive even at lower volume levels. I had to replace the Mojo for DAC duty since the A90D completely outclassed it there too.

I had my first experience with Topping with the D50 paired up to a Burson Soloist SL mk2 driving a Denon D2000 and Sony MDR-1R. Great detail retrieval with great synergy. I also used the same set up with Fostex TH900 mk2.I recently bought my first pair of planar magnetic headphones, Dan Clark Audio Closed X and HiFiMan HE6se v2 which needed more power than the Burson could provide which led me to this amp. Previously, I bought a Topping NX7 to use my Fostex TH900s on a trip to the US. After being super impressed with Topping's NFCA circuit I decided to try the A90 for a new use case.This amplifier is clean, transparent, introduces no colour or signature of its own, and incredibly detailed. Bad recordings will sound bad and great recordings will sound great with plenty of power. The low registers, when driving the planar magnetics, are handled without any strain - it's effortless and can drive both headphones, in particular the HiFiMan's to ear bleeding volume. This amplifier paired with a Topping D90, and all the headphones mentioned above - I believe I've found my endgame set up.
