Great collection for fans
Watching the extended cuts in 4k is one of the best home cinema experiences you can have. Fantastic set for fans and the case looks amazing in a cabinet

Amazing for any Lord of the rings fan
Excellent addition to any collection. I have never seen the extended edition versions of the films so being able to watch them remastered in 4K was amazing. The box can also fold in many different ways so you are able to display it and have it on show. Would make a great piece for any man cave or gaming room etc.

LOTR quality isn't any better than Blu-ray
I've seen and owned all the films from VHS up to this set in 4k, The hobbit quality is fantastic! Clear as day 4k. However I'm quite disappointed in the lack of clarity on the original trilogy đ, I'd say it's no better than the previous Blu-ray releases. The audio is a big improvement all round. Also there's a miss print on the bottom of the cover, it states the wrong film and run time. Not a problem for a ÂŁ30 set but when it's the "ultimate" and priced at ÂŁ180 it's a bit disappointing.

Nce set, but missing extras
Contains HD and 4k versions of both the theatrical and extended versions of all 6 LOTR and Hobbit movies, but only a âbonusâ single blu ray disc of extra features. Not sure itâs worth it for the price when you would get the same for buying the two trilogy 4k boxsets. I have the original extended versions of the movies on blu ray and each movie had 2 discs of appendices of extra features which are sadly missing from this set - were they included this would be a 5 star excellent item, but without them itâs sadly just average for the price.

Nice Set
As a buyer of the 2021 edition of this set, I can tell you that it's a great set, but it's true that it doesn't contain the appendices. You get each film in both theatrical and extended versions on 4k and 1080p blu-ray. The 4k versions have no bonus features whatsoever, not even the audio commentaries, which is odd as with the LOTR trilogy they still span two discs apiece, and they are reportedly 100GB discs, so you get a perhaps unnecessarily high bit rate on those. The extended 1080p discs contain the commentaries. The only bonus material in this set is the single blu-ray disc, containing three cast reunion featurettes, along with the Cannes presentation reel which has previously unseen footage from the movies. But that's it.The 4k versions are very nice, featuring Dolby Vision and incredible audio. The Hobbit movies were shot digitally at 5k resolution and were reportedly redone at 4k for this release, and look astonishing. The LOTR films were apparently scanned at 4k, with the VFX upscaled, and some (slightly ill-advised) DNR in an effort to make them look more like the Hobbit movies. It's not noticeable for most of the runtime, but you will occasionally notice it. So while the LOTR films look their best, far better than they did in the cinema in fact, they're unfortunately not as flawless as they could be.The packaging is very nice, with each film getting its own case, each LOTR one holding 6 discs, each Hobbit one holding 4 discs. The arts cards and booklet are nice additions. It looks like this new 2022 set is slightly cheaper as there's no mention of the One Ring replica, which is a bit of a shame, but most people probably won't miss it.If you have previous editions with all the bonus material, this is a very nice set. If not, you're likely better off buying the Middle-Earth Remastered Blu-ray 30-disc set which includes everything from the previous extended and theatrical sets, and then getting the LOTR and Hobbit 4k trilogies separately (all-in, the price is in the same ballpark, maybe a bit less when they're on offer, but you don't get the bonus disc from this set).

The films vary in quality
This is a hobbit collection containing all the films from the trilogy. The first hobbit film focuses more on the characters of the hobbit, so I would give that one a individual score of 3/5 hobbit desolation of Smaug is probably the best one of the hobbit films it has more character development as the main hobbits look for this dragon, the film is a vast improvement on the first hobbit film so I give that one a individual score of 4/5.Next I come to the last of the hobbit films, battle of the five armies, which takes the hobbit characters of the first film and puts them in big battle scenes which seem to be computer generated and it also follows several new characters. This HD set features extensive special features like the lord of the rings extended editions about 20 years ago!
