It is probably a lot more functional than an expensive full leather one would be, as if it is damaged or stained its easy to replace. You want to be able to work with it, lean on it, drink your coffee sat at it. So it needs to be resilient. This item is exactly that. If you are where I was, trying to decide between a more expensive option, and this one - do try this first.
