I suspect that they might have been returned after someone else had unsuccessfully tried to assemble them because they definitely showed signs of wear fresh from the packaging. The instructions for putting them together were useless, but once you've worked out how to do it (it's all about slots and rubber bands) they're quite quick to put together. (Contrary to the instruction diagram, you need to slot in the two dividing panels BEFORE the end panels.) These are quite shoddy, in my opinion, and expensive for the quality (but they are made in Germany so the price is doubtless down to the euro/sterling exchange rate). That said, they do look quite smart once assembled and loaded, and they stack very nicely. Have bought 4 so far: stackable, solid, easy to construct and best of all not made of plastic.
