I am absolutely impressed! I was out for 12 days, and it kept ice the whole time!Granted, this was the first time I used the strategy of freezing water in 1 gallon jugs (green ice tea jugs, not milk jugs, the milk jugs would sweat out the moisture) instead of buying ice blocks or cubes. Neat trick, doesn't leave water all over your goods as the ice melts. BUT, it deep keep the ice I had in there cool and intact for all 12 days! Even after being in the sun for half of those days! The hottest it got during the day was an average of 75-80 degrees. and it got freezing by night. I kept the ice chest in camp where there were tall pines so it only got the high noon sun during the day. I love the heavy duty handles and latches as well. Great product! Igloo ALWAYS built the best cooler for the money, stuff stayed cold and ice didn't melt. However the hinges and latches were lousy when cooler put in rough service. Even in light service, they eventually always broke. I'm thrilled to see a newly designed cooler that should last. Survived second bear raid! Must have been the same bear as last year as he was much more gentle this time and did not eat my food. That habañero salsa was a burning reminder of last years buffet. A couple new punctures; however, used some DAP to fill in and worked like a charm.Bought this cooler for an annual wilderness camping trip. First night out our camp was raided by a bear. The bear was able to easily open the cooler without ripping the lid off or breaking the hinges. The bear got to enjoy all of my nicely chilled food as the cooler kept everything properly chilled including my habeñero salsa. Lucky him!
