I had one of these before but it wasn't as tall. I still had to bend over for that one. This one I did not have to bend over at all. It's very sturdy. I already had a set of steps that I use with it. I have hot water access outside so my dogs can be bathed comfortably. I was never comfortable. After one dog I was whipped. I just finished one and I have three more dogs to go. It will be a breeze to finish them. I love that the drain is 10 ft long so I put it over in my flower bed. Before I head to stand in a puddle of Mud and the dogs were standing in the puddle of Mud while I gave their bath. This tub has a gate which prevents the dogs from backing out. The tie-downs are sufficient. They are cross-tied which means the dogs cannot move to the right or the left. I would not leave them unattended however because dogs will be dogs. This tub is so well worth the money. Hope this helps. **Q: Can the tub be used on the ground without the legs?** A: The legs fold up under the table flat like a grooming table so you could use it like that, but the legs don't come off. **Q: Can you reccomend a great and suitable portable step for this bathtub?** A: We are using the back porch stoop to get them in and out of the tub. But before we decided that I was looking at some steps.
