Learning Resources Blurt Vocabulary Building Game : desertcart.co.uk: Toys & Games

Review: Helpful and learner inviting - Some of the French twelve to fourteen year olds I help with their English consider themselves nothing but nuts, which I keep trying to deny . I entertained them with this game, which I had never used before, on the very last day of the academic year.Game Day I will dub it.Two of them turned up around the large table gradually followed by 6 more, all coming up one by one. Obviouly to me, the rules had to be adapted, but it was such fun and, I hope, effort rewarding.
Review: Simple but fun word-shouting game - This is a simple but fun word game. The first person to identify the word on the card gets to move their counter forward the number of spaces shown on the die. Players take it in turns to be the card reader. The first player to complete a lap of the board wins. That’s the game summed up in three sentences, and apart from some optional more advanced rules and a few notes about what to do in the event of a dispute or a tie, that’s pretty much it- so it doesn’t take long to pick up. On the plus side, it really is a lot of fun if you’re in the mood for it. If you’re up for a laugh and people are shouting out dafter answers, intentionally or otherwise, then you can have plenty of LOLs, as young people call them I believe. It’s a giggle with kids, and I would have to guess it’s probably quite fun with a bunch of alcohol-influenced adults as well. For a family though there’s a problem with difficulty level. Although the cards have an easier side (with stars) and a more difficult side, every player gets the same question at the same time, so older kids or grown-ups with broader vocabularies have an inherent advantage, and the younger siblings who are trying to keep up will find themselves lagging behind unless you give them some kind of head start, or you bend the rules to help them out. So it’s a game better suited to classmates who might expect to be on the same level, rather than a family of different ages. The board itself is of surprisingly poor manufacture. It doesn’t bend well, and the playing surface is crumpled and doesn’t fold out properly flat like any other board game. It’s a large space with very little on it, and you could just as easily play the whole game using a chess board or just a points counter instead. Apart from the board, the manufacturing quality is fine- a simple die and some smartly presented cards, boxed in a way that reminds me of Trivial Pursuit. The questions on the cards are mostly fine, but there are a handful which seem a bit questionable and hard to guess- and some that seem Americanised, “chipmunk” and so on. But as you can quickly gloss over cards that nobody can get, that doesn’t end up being too problematic. For the price, the quality of the board, the daft and pointless shape of the box and so on, I am tempted to give this game three stars. However my family and I have had quite a giggle playing it, and on that basis I’m going to bump it up to four.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the difference between this version in the long box and the one in the square-ish box, or the old box? Want the most advanced words. THanks.**
A: HiThey are actually the same, the gameboard was just redesigned, all of the words stayed the same.

**Q: How many cards for the junior version? I am a second grade teacher and trying to find station games**
A: There are 200 cards in the box. One side has easier questions - I guess this could be considered the junior version - and the other side has harder questions. They are color coded - the hot colors (red, orange, yellow ) are the harder questions. The cooler colors are the easier ones. That side of the card also has a star on it to help identify them. There are 3 clues per side. (so 600 easy clues in the box). I have a third grader and a first grader and they really like the game.

**Q: Can kindergarten students play this game?**
A: Yes. Our 3 year old easily got about 80% of them right.

**Q: Can this game be played with only two or three kids?**
A: No,can be played with more kids. Best educational game. Develops vocabulary, even adults can play. Would definitely recommend

### ⭐⭐⭐ vocabulary game
*by H***Y on 13 February 2022*

This is an educational board game about vocabulary. The game is straightforward and easy to understanding. It is played by 1. throwing the dice by first player to see how many steps to move. 2. The person who is in charged to ask question draw a card from the pile, then ask the question according to the number thrown on the dice. 3. The players shout out the answer. 4. whoever shout out the correct answer first can move the can move the steps. 5. whoever get to the final wins. To compete with each other, it is better to play with at least 3 people, so one can be in charged of asking the questions while the other players compete. It is a good game for teachers to play with their students as part of their activity. or parents can play with their kids to practice their vocabulary. However, it is not as fun as other board game so it will get board fast. Considering it is mainly cardboard so I think the price is rather expensive.
