Same price range as other bed bases, way more features, great massage
I was looking for the lowest-price, full-featured adjustable twin xl bed base I could find when I stumbled on this one. I was leaning towards the Classics base, but the reviews for its massage feature made it seem underwhelming. To my dismay, they seemed to be the only affordable bed base with any sort of attempt at a massage. Until I stumbled upon the Mattress America base. Not only did it have its own take on a massage (the only other bed base I could find that offered it under $1-2000), but in addition to that featured dual-sided USB ports (where most other bed bases offer either one, which could be stuck on the wall side, or none), single-piece adjustable legs with five different height settings (compared to other beds which offer extra pieces you'd have to store somewhere if not using all of them, and only have three settings). And on top of that, a feature that I couldn't find on a single other bed base in this price range; under-bed lighting. As far as the massage feature goes, I haven't had the chance to try the massage function on any other bed so I can't say how it compares, but I can say that it definitely isn't underwhelming. It has both a back and foot massage, individually controllable through four different power levels, a timer, and a few different pulse options. The foot massage is pretty powerful and by itself spreads very well through the entire bed. The back massage, if you dare to put it on max power feels like a small jackhammer is going at the bottom of your bed, extremely intense, but the lower settings work really well for me. If reviewers of other bed bases massages find them underwhelming, I can't imagine they'd say the same for this one. As far as downsides, there's a noticeable bulge where both of the massage units are pressing out of the base, and it /may/ require a relatively thick mattress to avoid being able to feel it through the mattress, as they will push into it, so I wouldn't use a low inch mattress. Also bear in mind that it will create a lot of vibrations that run down the feet of the bed, so I wouldn't use it on an upper floor. One thing I noted while comparing different bed bases was the quality (and features) of the remotes of each. While there's no LCD screen (perhaps pointless, to be fair), it feels solid and good in the hand, is backlit with translucent button legends so they're very readable in the dark, has three customizable preset settings, a quick flatten button, and a somewhat gimmicky flashlight feature that, while very dim, does give a bit of visibility if you absolutely need it. My complaints are that the backlight on the remote is too bright when in a pitch black room, when you'd need it, to the point that it's practically a flashlight in itself, similar to turning on your phone. And for a nitpick, that there's no pouch built into the bed base to store it, so you'll want a bedstand. The 'under-bed' lighting that I was so curious about as this was the sole bed base I saw at this price range offering the feature seems to be a set of two LED light strips positioned at the foot end of the bed. It creates a pretty bright glow, enough to illuminate the whole room in the dark, and is really convenient if you need to look for something under the bed. There are no LEDs at the head-end however, so it doesn't offer 360 degree illumination around the edges if you just want that aesthetic (not that it was expected). A very welcome feature, and a good flashlight alternative. The legs are my biggest long-term concern about the bed. Unlike traditional adjustable legs which are single-piece screw-ons, this bed uses those sliding pin-holes. While it's super simple to adjust, has five points rather than three, and keeps everything as a single attached piece, I do worry about whether or not those pins are going to be able to withstand the hundreds of points of force put on them every night. But from my first few nights of using the bed, no problems yet.And as far as the adjustability goes, this bed definitely isn't silent in its operation, the motors are decently audible, not that it promised to be. But as someone who sleeps with a fan on, I can't hear it over the fan. If sleeping in a completely silent bedroom with someone else, it may be a concern though. My last concerns are that as someone with a pet, it seems you have to take care that your pet isn't under your bed as you lower it for its safety. And if you have any cord-biting pets, there are a lot that dangle underneath the base of this bed. But neither of those issues are exclusive to this bed, but most adjustable beds in general, just something to keep in mind if shopping around for one. If you have pets, I'd recommend sticking this in a frame that blocks out the bottom of it if possible.Having put it through a few nights use, I can't say how the base will perform long-term but I have no disappointments about it so far, and it definitely seems to offer the most features by-far at its low price point compared to all the competing bed bases on Amazon. Very satisfied.

Working well for 4 years so far!
This bed works as advertised in my opinion. I bought this in late 2019 and love the adjustable feature. I work from home and read often in bed so I knew it was something I wanted and while it’s a big expensive purchase (for me and most) it was worthwhile and I don’t regret it!The massage feature is just vibration and I don’t use that often and it doesn’t do much for me personally. .. except for a few times when my leg muscles were REALLLLLLY sore. The vibration felt like it was loosening up all the tiny tight spots in my muscles.Yesterday was my first issue with the mattress. Just stopped working but all lights were on, USB charger still worked and charged my phone, remote didn’t need new batteries. I simply called the mattress America number (didn’t get an answer until after 9am west coast) but once someone did answer he told me how to reset the remote by FIRST holding down the foot and head up buttons at the same time, then pressing the tiny blue bottom on the small square in the cord where it plugs in. Bed went “bee doo Boop!” and back to working fine!

I got a good frame... but maybe different model?
Ok so i ordered THIS model and the one i got had significant differences... not sure if its a newer version of this or what... but here is what i have noticed in the three days of having/using:1. Only two heights of legs, combined 7' which made the frame too short for storage of anything i own, including my suitcase.... so the legs were not the three tiered as advertised, basically i got the two longer ones and no short one....2. The usb ports are on the UNDERSIDE of the frame. This may have been in response to so many complaints regarding the light the ports throw... its blue..... but its underbed now and does not emit enough light to light the room, but i also have some ambient light on while sleeping (yes im a grown person who does not enjoy the total dark)3. The remote. My remote is not rectangle but more elongated oval with physical buttons and not just push contacts like the advert. all the same functions, but the remote is bigger than my TV remote..... something to keep in mind.Value - Let's talk about how quality this is for price. This base is awesome! Will take at least 2 to bring up stairs, i know from first hand exp, but set up can be done alone, again, i know from exp - but the price is worth the work! This is awesome!Sturdyness - i am not light but im not gargantuan either - high 180's - and this doesnt strain the slightest with me and the 130 lb mattress.....Quiet - this is much quieter than most i have heard, the vibration is fairly intense and does penetrate a 14-in bed.So the pre-set positions are good, but you can always tweak them. Overall, for the price this is an amazing buy. I will update again when i hit a good marker to make a more solid judgement, but thus far im happy.
