## Description

desertcart.com: 100% Merino Wool T-Shirt Men - Base Layer Top Undershirt with Hiking Socks (Deep Blue, X-Large) : Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry

Review: Fantastic shirts! - These are fantastic shirts. I was getting ready to go on a trip and wanted to try just bringing two shirts for the whole trip. Merino is legendary for odor resistance and warmth. But it also breathes and keeps you cool. It just does whatever you need to help regulate your temperature. So I purchased two of these shirts and gave them a shot. When I opened them, I was a little concerned about the thickness of the fabric. They are fairly thin, and I thought that might be a problem. Turns out I was wrong. Even with relatively thin fabric, the merino wool did its job very well. Wicked sweat and dried pretty quickly. The fabric is also soft and not itchy at all. Even after wearing all day through airports and multiple airplanes, I still felt fresh at the end of the trip. The shirt wasn’t too snug or too loose on me. I was able to style them alone with jeans or khaki pants and also use them as undershirts on cooler mornings. Good style all around. I washed them in a bag for delicate clothes and only used a small amount of detergent. I was worried about washing them, as wool is notoriously difficult to wash right. But these seemed to do fine. I felt like they were a little less soft after the second wash, but they never got itchy. The only negative is the conflicting instructions on washing. The shirt comes with one set of instructions on the paper tag, another set on the tag inside the shirt, and a website recommendation that has yet a third was of washing. So, should I wash them by hand? In a machine by themselves on delicate? I kinda gave up trying to figure out which way to do it and just used some common sense. But that’s my only gripe. Otherwise this was a good purchase and I’m sure I’ll buy more in the future.
Review: Our salad spinner is now a washing machine, and these shirts are worth it! - Our salad spinner has become a washing machine—and these shirts are worth it. My husband and I are borderline evangelists for Merino wool. We wear it for travel, the gym, hiking, and everyday life—socks, underwear, shirts, leggings, bras… if it can be made from Merino, we apparently own it. 😂 We have plenty of high-end Merino pieces that cost twice as much and can go straight into the washing machine. So how did Merino.tech convince us to hand-wash? The weight. These are exactly the lightweight, breathable weight we want in a base layer, and the price makes them much easier to love. And we may have taken the hand-washing thing a little too far. We bought an industrial-size salad spinner. Seriously. Once a week, we soak a load of Merino clothes in the spinner bucket, squeeze out the water, then put everything back in and give it a good spin. Voilà—our very own Merino washing machine. It sounds ridiculous, but it works brilliantly. And yes, the salad spinner travels with us in our camper. On long road trips—like Yellowstone—being able to wash a week’s worth of Merino clothes without hunting down a laundromat is ridiculously convenient. It may be the strangest piece of camping equipment we own, but it earns its space every single trip. The shirts are lightweight, comfortable, breathable, and don’t get that “I’ve been wearing this all day” smell that synthetic athletic shirts can develop. They’re great for layering without making you feel like you’re wearing a sweater underneath your clothes. They’re also true to size, which is always a welcome surprise when ordering clothing online. And a special shout-out to this shirt. My husband loved it out of the package and wore it shooting with the guys tonight. Are they as fancy as our $100+ Merino pieces? Maybe not. But they’re an excellent value, and I actually like the weight of these better for travel and layering. If you understand why people get slightly obsessed with Merino wool, these are an easy recommendation. Just don’t be surprised if you find yourself buying a salad spinner for your wardrobe—and taking it camping.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Won't merino wool feel itchy? And what does 17.5 micron mean?**
A: 17.5 micron superfine merino fibers are finer than human hair — too fine to feel itchy, even on sensitive skin. Standard wool (25+ microns) causes irritation; this doesn't. OEKO-TEX certified, tested against 100+ harmful substances.

**Q: How do I wash and dry it to keep it looking new ? Will it shrink or lose shape?**
A: Machine wash cold max 30°C, delicate cycle, inside out. Lay flat to dry — tumble drying permanently damages merino fibers. Store clean and dry; keep merino in sealed bags to prevent moths. Wear 3–5 days between washes — merino resists odor naturally

**Q: Can it be worn in summer?**
A: Yes — merino actively releases heat in warm conditions, staying drier and odor-free compared to synthetics. Temperature-regulating fiber works in both directions: warm in cold, breathable in heat.

**Q: Where does the merino wool sourced from and is this product certified?**
A: Our products are made from Australian merino wool, RWS certified — independent farm audit confirming animal welfare and land management standards. Every component tested against 100+ harmful substances under OEKO-TEX Standard 100.

**Q: Does it fit true to size?**
A: Choose your regular size if you prefer slim fit. For more relaxed fit order size up

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Soft, Sturdy, and Powerful in a Power Outage!
*by T***H on April 12, 2024*

I am so thankful the folks who are responsible for the creation of this shirt! New England has been dumped with a couple of really nasty, heavy snowstorms this late March and April, in which hundreds of thousands have lost power, including me. Living in a building where everything is powered by electric, having a layer like this is really a true lifesaver. My skin is highly sensitive to friction, and although an alpaca gaiter completely failed, this t-shirt absolutely won the power outage! It is thoroughly comfortable: soft, well fitting according to the size chart, with absolutely no itchiness whatsoever. It truly is the perfect base layer in the cold, and I intend to purchase more for this winter. I chose to wash it upon arrival using a small drop of gentle unfragranced facial cleanser (it was what I had on hand) and a cold water soak of about 10 minutes. Following a thorough rinse also in cold water, I laid it upon a clean towel and gently rolled it to remove excess water. It's very important not to wring out wool, as it will stretch and harm the fibers. I laid it across the top of a drying rack, where it dried in about 18 hours. Had I done a second towel dry, it would have dried more quickly, but I hadn't planned well enough to do laundry so there wasn't quite an abundance of towels at hand! The result was a perfectly clean, cozy shirt ready to go. I checked all the seams and this shirt appears to be very well made and built to last. Wool base layers are supposed to be on the thin side, and that doesn't affect their warmth. Highly recommended!
