Bisque Cleaning & Moistening Wipe the bisque with a sponge to remove dust and moisten the surface. Improve glaze adhesion to prevent crawling, pinholes and other firing defects. 2. Glaze Mixing Glaze may separate and settle after storage or transit. Shake and stir thoroughly before use. Add water gradually to dilute if the glaze is too thick. 3. Thin Coats Application Apply glaze in thin layers. Allow each coat to fully dry before re-coating. Excessively thick glaze causes cracking, peeling and crawling. Four coats are recommended; adjust accordingly until full coverage is achieved. 4. Kiln Firing Make sure the glazed pieces are completely dry and crack-free before firing. I put this glaze on the inside and the edge of this tiny vase though I did do 4 coats inside, and 6 thin coats on rim. It is a very medium thin glaze that goes on nicely. And frankly I am out of my mind happy with the color. My next piece I'm going to redux coats to 5 light coats and see how that works because people said they were fine with only 4, some said 6--- So you know it all depends on the user how this will work for you I decided to try the highest level first. I don't think six is necessary. Of course this glaze is cheaper than other most known brands and yet it isn't cheaper when you consider extra coats. So you'd have to figure it out for yourself with the color is worth it.. Glaze was unusable. *by S***V on January 23, 2026* Due to the great reviews, I ordered the gold for a piece I was working on for a client. After waiting for a month for the order to be fulfilled, unfortunately, the glaze arrived as a giant somewhat dried out clump in the middle of the jar with translucent water all around it. Horrible quality control. I tried for over an hour to mix it in and blend it together. I ended up still with the clump in the middle and what looked like lumpy oatmeal surrounding it. This glaze was unusable and would not adhere to the bisque. The client was in a time crunch, and so I did not have time to go out and buy another gold or to exchange this. I tried a different glaze that I had on hand, but this caused a great disappointment for the client and I ended up having to keep the piece myself.
