I use the * ultra delicates setting followed by a 800 spin rinse, with this setting a few capfuls work great, no softener required ( softener is already in the detergent, hence why 3 capfuls instead of 2 is used for each full load ). If stains are present, they are removed. (I found stains did not shift on * this setting if less liquid was placed in). I use this detergent for hand wash only items that I place in the machine. It keeps clothes nice even without tumble drying. Scent is subtle and pleasant. Very good for sensitive skin and kind to washing machines too!
