I have been running into problems with outdoor critters getting into my griddle between uses. Given the design of the griddle, there are many vents that allow airflow and heat to be managed... this ALso creates doorways for these critters. Using self-tapping screws, I basically lined from the inside the mesh over these vents. The screws where the perfect size to fit between the mesh which should prevent from tearing. I forget how many screws i used but it was alot more than I originally thought to help keep the mesh as tight as I could to the surface. So far since installing the mesh, I have not had any un-invited guests and I have a Ring camera that I setup inside the griddle (when not in use) to verify. Hopefully this will hold well, no flames will touch the mesh but it will get hot, I've seen surface temps get over 650 degrees when I leave all 4 burners on high. I just hope companies would start considering manufacturing outdoor grills with this type of stuff as I know i'm not the only one who has to deal with these pests. I am including a photo I took of the first piece I was measuring out.. Sorry I failed to take follow up photos including a finished photo before reattaching the burners and cooking surface.
