Review: This is the most glorious TV I have ever owned - I cannot believe how much I love this TV. As background, I bought a TLC from desertcart several months ago and hated it. Not only was it having issues working well with Google and Alexa, but I could never get the color right. It always looked off and meh. I returned it. I finally chose this one for Black Friday, and I cannot believe how much I love it. I have never owned a TV this beautiful in my life. The picture is glorious, it’s like being at the movies. Right out of the box, the picture was very good, excellent even. With some tweaks, it’s just perfect. I will say that reading the calibration suggestions online was pretty useless. It’s not like there’s that many settings, and what I found particularly nice was there were often three or four different options in each setting, each of which made the screen look better. (I opted for filmmaker mode, and just adjusted the brightness, color etc from there.) With the TLC I felt like every calibration option was subpar, nothing made the TV look better. I’m not a TV geek, so I can’t tell you about the blackness level. I CAN tell you that the color is outstanding, the clarity is outstanding, the brightness is outstanding, but it does get to be a little bright sometimes. Of all things, captions are too bright on Netflix. And while the TV itself lets you set the caption color to something less obnoxious, Netflix overrules, the TV caption settings, and only lets you do white or yellow, both of which are way too bright. Daylight scenes can be a bit much, light coming in through a window can be a bit too bright because it’s that bright of a TV. But that’s a small point. It’s simply an amazing tv. One word about the viewing angle, as I read a lot of TVs in this price range are terrible when viewed a little bit off to the side. I’m not noticing a decrease in viewing quality much at all, unlike with my TLC. So that’s a relief. I’m also enjoying the Google interface, seems to work fine, and plays well with YouTube TV, Prime video and Netflix. And it was super easy to set up. Following the instructions to put the stand on the TV was living hell, as there are picture-only instructions like IKEA! Just awful. And the TV is pretty heavy, so you’re gonna need somebody’s help putting it on the stand. But again, those are minor issues. This is the most beautiful TV I have ever owned, and the quality of the picture looks like those crazy pictures you see on display room floor, and know it’s never going to look like that at home. With this TV, it does. One final point, I’m really not understanding why this only has four out of five stars here. The professional reviewers love it (Tom’s, Rtings). It makes me wonder if some people are receiving a TV that substandard. Meaning, if with a few tweaks, this thing is not glorious, consider returning it for another one. I simply can’t express sufficiently in words how glorious this TV is. It was worth every penny (I got it for $890).
Review: Extremely impressive 55” TV, with tweaked image settings - I’ve had the 55” model TV for about a month now, and I can say that I’m almost entirely impressed. I’d recommend it to anyone who’s seeking a great viewing experience but doesn’t want to pay OLED prices. Before purchasing this TV, I was looking at lower end OLED models, but I wasn’t happy about the low brightness levels and prices. I also was concerned about burn in. This TV struck a great balance point for me. The price point is much lower than OLEDs, and the viewing experience is 90% as good, at least for a normal viewer like me. Pros: Beautiful color range, impressive brightness (advertised 1800 nit for 55”), and contrast that’s almost unbelievably good for a non-OLED panel. High quality Dolby and SDR content both look stunning. The TV pairs seamlessly with my Apple TV. I’m super impressed! Cons: - To get great picture, you’ll have to spend a good amount of time tweaking the image settings. The review on the RTINGS website has a great setup guide. The default picture settings are underwhelming, in my opinion. - Another con is that in some SDR videos (e.g., on YouTube), you can see posterization. Hopefully Hisense will make a software update to help fix this. - The viewing angle is awful. We only watch TV from a straight-on view, but beware that the picture quality drops harshly if viewed from too sharp of an angle. My overall experience rating: 9/10 My “objective” rating given the price and limitations: 8.5/10 Good luck!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is the most glorious TV I have ever owned

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The sequel to the greatest TV of all time.
*by S***E on December 9, 2025*

Four years ago, I bought the greatest television ever made by human hands: The Hisense U8G. Last month, it finally started to have backlight stain, so I bought its great grandchild: the U8N. This continues to be the greatest TV ever. It does everything the U8G did, and fixes a ton of issues I had with the old one. Hilariously, despite 3 generations of product development, almost all of the improvements are in software, not hardware. In fact, literally the only hardware benefits on the TV itself are that there's less (not zero) black smearing, and that pizza boxes fit better under it. Oh, and it supports 144Hz instead of 120 but to be honest with you I can't tell the difference between 90 and 120, so I definitely don't care about going from 120 to 144. The most noticeable upgrade is that it no longer has the bug that causes audio cutouts every couple hours when displaying a 4k120Hz signal. YouTube got three notable improvements: speed control works now, as does the voice search button. Also, there was a bug on the old TV that would forcibly enable frame interpolation every time you PIP a video, which happens whenever you open up the menu or description on a YouTube video. That now no longer happens, which is really nice. Casting to the TV got several improvements. First and foremost, they finally added a bluetooth receiver app. This lets you use the TV as a bluetooth speaker, which is the final nail in the coffin for "can my guest play this rando audio from that rando device on my nice speakers". And the implementation is plush: the app gives you artist/song names, play/pause/skip/back, several nice audio visualizers, and a dedicated "screen off" button. They also included a native (Apple branded, even) AirPlay receiver app, which works perfectly out of the box and obsoletes the third party one I was using. It comes with all the trimmings, too. The volume buttons on my Mac control the TV volume directly while streaming to it, and the TV remote controls whatever is playing on my Mac. When streaming audio, you get now-playing info (album art, title, and artist) on the TV, though you can't background it, which is unfortunate. When streaming a video directly, you get a progress bar overlay. The lip sync even works when watching a YouTube video on my laptop but streaming the audio to the TV, very impressive. It's a shame this isn't in the Play store for every Android TV to use, Hisense must have paid Apple a pretty penny for the privilege. Chromecasting is more reliable, as is the connection to bluetooth peripherals such as mice. Steam Link no longer requires disabling GPU compositing for low latency, it just works out of the box. Tragically, despite the display supporting 4k, 144Hz, the poor little video decompressor in the onboard GPU can't handle more than 4k 60fps content, so no high refresh rate game streaming. In more incredible news, the volume overlay is on the right, so it no longer blocks subtitles! Same with the Google Assistant overlay, although the new version puts a completely unnecessary gray filter over the whole screen. Total overkill, just use the space that's actually displaying content, you goofballs. And finally, a perk that applies to me and only me: I like to read books on my TV, using a sideloaded Google Play Books app. They enabled dark mode and a wildly more d-pad navigable layout. Super cushy, I can now browse, download, and read any book in my library with just my TV remote. It's glorious. Speaking of the remote, it's also had a number of improvements. The backlight actually works, and turns on whenever you pick up the remote, without having to hit a button first. The "find my remote" beeper is significantly louder too, and the remote no longer has a rounded bottom, so it doesn't have a tendency to rock back and forth every time you bump the table. That said, it's still not completely perfect. The viewing angles are... bad. The color temperature of the display changes noticeably off-axis. It never inverts, but I wouldn't recommend this for your living room TV, there's about 3 good seats, everyone else gets a noticeably worse image. For me, in my bedroom, there are only 3 seats anyway. Also, the nav ring on the remote is a godawful machined aluminum texture that looks great in sizzle reels but feels like ass in real life. I've covered it in clear nail polish, which solves it nicely.
