Beautiful! Great detail. Wonderful resource!
Beautiful!!It is a tad heavy, but then again if it is going to include maps of every country in the world, then it should be.The world has changed much over the past 60 or so years. The maps I drew of Africa, as a child, bear little resemblance to the Africa of the past several decades. The USSR is gone, & now all the countries are in the National Geographic Atlas of the World. There are countries I have never even heard of!I love watching Newsroom Tokyo, it is helping me to learn about parts of the world, we in the US, know very little about.I'm slowly learning a great of what's happening on the other side of the world, & now I can find them on the map. I learned Burma is no longer, it's now called Myanmar, & I can find it in my gorgeous atlas!!Anyway, if you can handle the weight, & I agree it is substantial, maybe 9 1/2 - 10 lbs, then this atlas is just what you are looking for! With this Atlas, when I try to locate a country, or area, I can now find it, & I can actually read the font!!!Would recommend this to anyone who is interested in our ever changing world.

Nice book. I bought it to replace my 30 year old book that is falling apart.

Astounding quality and an immense wealth of information
I purchased this particular atlas after shopping around because I am interested in foreign travel and also geography in general. An atlas containing maps of the whole world was what I wanted, and I got just that. This atlas comes packaged in a sturdy case, and is almost unbelievable in size, though the overall size of the maps within is just right for being able to read each of the individual names of each place. Also, the binding does not affect the viewing of the maps which often are split between two pages due to the size. The names are clearly printed and visible. There are many pluses to this particular world atlas, including maps of the ocean floor, maps of stars and planets, coverage on all countries - much information on each of them as well as the flags for each country. As someone who is interested in knowing all about the world we live in, and learning about foreign countries and the diversity of the world, this atlas was exactly what I wanted and more. I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

Excellent- new condition
Hi all. Looks like we got this book so very big and heavy - never been read edition❤️. The price was phenomenal. We saved 100 dollars getting it here than getting brand new. And it is brand new. I do recommend

Great atlas
It's so helpful atlas with so much information within it, and it will definitely be in my library for a long time. But in my point of view there are tow disadvantages:First: it contains a lot of plates (pages) for a specific countries, such as the united states and the United kingdom, and you may see ten countries or more have been gathered in only one plate. So it's very clear that the designers of this atlas focus in a specific geographic regions of the planet, but it should be a global atlas ? or a world atlas right ?The second is: the index part of the atlas, a huge portion of the book has been occupied by the index section which I may never even use, I believe they can make a custom editions which have a brief index for those who are not familiar with index, and replace it with even more plates.I know that the time's atlas has even more index, and this was exactly the reason that made me buy this atlas instead of the time's atlasOther than this, this book is really helpful.

Big Disappointment
WOW! I entered this review under 5 star because everyone seems to so love this atlas. I bought it based on the reviews. In years past I have owned the Times Atlas of the World and been very happy with it. I am sorry today on receiving the National Geographic Atlas that I purchased it. I think the maps are great. What I find to be annoying are the page label plates- 2"x4" on each map page- , identifying what you are viewing. They consume an 8 sq. inch place on each page that would better be left to a more discreet label and they cover up important information on the map.BACK TO DESIGN SCHOOL. The probably well paid designers and editors did not have what I want in a map in mind when this was composed. I want maps. Not obvious identifiers on every page. Leave that to a discreet label and an index and table of contents.I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!

Traumatic to get it, but once received worth the wait
My husband LOVES this resource, as I knew he would. We had seen a older version on a cruise and realized it is the world atlas that really works well as one is aging and needs clear print of adequate size to really comprehend the information presented. This fit the bill. Only challenge was actually getting it. When it became clear the first copy sent was "lost in space" and was not coming at all, let alone on time, I experienced the disappointment of not receiving in time for Christmas (it was ordered on 12/11). However, the replacement came as promised.
