## Description

When a crime needs solving, there’s only one dog for the job! Join Nell the Detective and help solve the mystery of the missing books. There once was a dog with a keen sense of smell. She was known far and wide as Detective Dog Nell. Peter’s dog Nell has an amazing sense of smell. Her ever-sniffing nose is always hard at work solving mysteries and finding all Peter’s lost toys. But Nell has other talents too . . . When she’s not cracking cases, Nell goes to school with Peter and listens to the children read. Books about dinosaurs, books about space and even books about dogs – Nell loves them all! But one day Peter and Nell arrive at school to find all the books have disappeared! Who could have taken them, and why? Luckily, Detective Dog Nell, with help from the whole class, is ready to sniff out the thief! Written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by the multi-talented illustrator and print-maker Sara Ogilvie, The Detective Dog is a fast-paced celebration of books, reading, libraries and the relationship between a little boy and his rather special dog.

Review: A Tail-Wagging Adventure 📚🐶🔍 - In this heartwarming tale, we meet Detective Dog Nell, a clever canine with a knack for solving mysteries and a love for books. Together with her trusty sidekick Peter, they embark on a series of adventures around town, sniffing out clues and unraveling mysteries like missing books/stolen stories. What I love most about this book is how Julia Donaldson weaves together a captivating story with enchanting rhymes and rhythmic prose. It's just so much fun to read aloud, and the colorful illustrations by Sara Ogilvie truly bring the characters and their adventures to life. But beyond the mystery-solving fun, the book also has a heartwarming message about the joy of reading and the magic of libraries. It's a wonderful reminder of the treasures waiting to be discovered within the pages of a book and the special role that libraries play in our communities. 📚🐶🔍
Review: Great book! - Great book for my 6 year old and 4 year old granddaughters!

Great book for my 6 year old and 4 year old granddaughters!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ You need to add this book to your collection!!
*by J***R on January 12, 2019*

Let me just start by saying I’ve loved almost all of the Julia Donaldson books I’ve read with my son (The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom, Charlie Cook’s Favorite Book, etc.), But this is my all-time favorite. As a lover of books and reading in general, the storyline for this one - along with the fun, playful pictures (and swoon-worthy illustration of the library) make this book so special and fun to read. Like in her other books, Julia Donaldson uses a great rhyme scheme to tell the story of Detective Dog Nell and her owner, Peter. The story is somewhat similar to that of the Snatchabook by Helen Docherty — but not the same at the same time. The mystery element is there in both books, along with the disappearance of books in each story. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, so you’ll just have to read it for yourself. This is one that you should definitely add to your collection! We even bought it as a Christmas present for my son’s Kindergarten teacher! :)
