Don't let the naysayers get you down! - I bought the K2 SE because it was inexpensive and I wanted to get into 3D printing. I had a Creality laser engraver that worked well, so I figured I'd go with the brand I knew. I bought the additional enclosure because I was planning to use this in the garage where my wood shop is, and I wanted to keep some dust out. I have been pushing this thing pretty hard for three months now and it has not so much as looked at me cross eyed. It takes everything I throw at it. The quality seems to be there, as nothing is wearing out. I have a little superlube oil and grease to keep up the maintenance, and I suspect any failures people report have been on unmaintained machines. If you're the type that drives your car without changing the oil, 3D printing is not for you. A quick note on 3D printing, for the uninitiated. When you see the one and two star reviews for the K2 SE, make sure you read why the reviewer is leaving the low rating. "Doesn't come with filament" - if you're not buying a combo with filament, none of the printers on the market come with filament. "Makes bubbles and pops when printing" - this is wet filament and not the fault of the printer (dry your filament). 3D printing is not a set it and forget it proposition, at least not at first. It requires a little skill (that can be built), a little knowledge (the U of Tube), and a little patience while you learn how to use the machine. Now for the machine itself... The print quality surprised me as a first time 3D printer user. I have purchased 3D printed items in the past and the lines were not something that impressed me. The K2 SE prints pretty much the same quality as the higher end Bambu Labs printers. The speed is all I could ask for, and I have fed this thing all kinds of PLA, PETG and TPU from Creality, Sunlu, Polymaker and AnyCubic without a problem. Any issues I have had have been the fault of the operator (me) not knowing I had to dry PETG before I use it. I have a Creality filament dryer now and dry my PETG right out of the package, then store it in an airtight container with dessicant. I have two printers running dried PETG sitting behind me right now and they're doing great. If I have a single complaint about the K2 SE, it's the bed size. At 215 x 220 it's smaller than the industry "standard" of 256 x 256, and if you get some of the larger prints that are designed for a "standard" sized printer, they won't fit the build plate. But I knew that coming into this, because they advertise the size right up front. Overall, I'm happy with the K2 SE. It was an excellent entry level printer and I have learned a lot from using it. I had it up and running about 10 minutes after unpacking it. Assembly was 1)install spool holder on back and 2) connect display screen to printer. It was so easy I thought I had to have missed something, but nope. About 3 days after I started using the K2 SE, I turned my CR-6 printers off. After having the printer for 5 days, I bought the enclosure for it. A week after receiving the K2, I tore my CR-6's down and set them aside for their new owners (assuming I ever find any, lol). After having the K2 for 8 days, I ordered the 4 filament spool attachment. This thing is awesome. There was almost no learning curve at all. I bet it took 2 weeks to get my first decent print from my old printers, but this one was ready to rock right out of the box. The prints are very nice quality, setup and use of the printer is a breeze, solid construction, and simple assembly make this printer a real winner in my book. Bad company. *by D***R on March 18, 2023* I'm not new to 3-D printers. I've been using them personally and professionally for over 10 years. I've built them. Modified them. Everything from $400 printers up to $500,000 printers. And I am super handy with electronics, computers, and CAD. If anybody would have a good experience, it would be me. But, no! Assembly was horrible. I did it, but it would be near impossible for someone who isn't familiar with 3-D printers. The manual was horrible to start with, but then just sort of... ended. As if the author realized they were doing a bad job and just quit half way through. The last thing in the manual was a note to go to their website for the automatic bed leveling instructions. But going to their website was disappointing. The instructions there are almost non-existent, and completely useless. Going onto social media I found out that their bed leveling is not turned on by default. And the process of turning it on, um, not user friendly and not documented by the manufacturer. Remember that automatic bed leveling is a big selling point of this printer! It would be like buying a new car and having to use an undocumented process to turn the steering wheel on. Absolutely ridiculous! Even when you do turn on the automatic bed leveling, it still doesn't work well or at all! Most users give up on it or otherwise muddle through with sub-par performance. This feature is required if your print bed is not flat. If your bed is warped, even just a tiny amount, then you will never be able to utilize the entire build volume. My print bed is dipped low by 0.12mm in the center. So if I adjust the bed to give me proper print adhesion in the center then the outside is really squished down onto the bed and adheres too much. Which brings me to my next crisis... If your print gets really squished down onto the bed (yes, even by 0.12mm), it will stick so much that you damage things trying to remove it. And... I damaged the print bed trying to remove a print. This could have been avoided if their bed leveling actually worked, and if they had reasonable instructions. So I went to the manufacturer's website to look for a replacement build bed. These things are somewhat consumable, so getting a new one shouldn't be a problem. Except it was. It wasn't on their website. Other printer models had them, but not this one. So I emailed someone at their online store. This was the reply I got from Tina, "Our store does not have the replacement build plate for the Ender-3 S1 Plus printer yet. We are very sorry." I kid you not, this was the entire reply except for the signature! If this was true then I would have a $500 paperweight! Fortunately their store staff is as accurate as their manual and software. I did find the build bed here on Amazon. The seller is Creality themselves. So their left hand doesn't know what their right hand is doing. It said it would be delivered in 2 days, but actually came in 5. I should also mention that the process of taking an STL file, slicing it, and printing it is almost entirely undocumented. This would be a daunting process to figure out for someone new to 3-D printing. I would return this printer and get a different brand, but I have an important project going on and I don't have the time. I've already lost a week of work with the damaged print bed, and I don't have a couple of weeks to blow trying to get a return, etc. I have the skills to modify this printer to make it do what I need, but most people don't. And nobody should have to put up with this. It is a shame. The actual printer hardware design is nice! It seems well built. The fit and finish is good. Other than the automatic bed leveling, the software seems good too. The touch screen is a little quirky, but looks nice and works well once you figure out what it is actually trying to do.
