**Q: If the logs are 18" wide, why do you need 29" in the front?**
A: I'm not sure but you do need some air space around the unit.  Probably done type of fire code.  I bought this set and have been very happy with it.

**Q: Does this unit require electricity?**
A: Now electricity required. Has a remote to control.

**Q: I finally got my boxes opened and there was suppose to be remote controlled but there is no remote it is controlled by a knob that you set not a hand**
A: Should have a remote.

**Q: What is the size? Will it fit in our ventfree fireplace box?**
A: According to the owner's manual the Minimum Firebox Size Required: 20" H x 29" W in front (22" W at rear) x 13" D
