It's not the seller's fault. The programmers and company, Iolo, have produced this irritation, one which extends to their website. Our experiences with both their software, System Mechanic, and their website have been poor, both seeming to be poorly thought out, badly designed.I've tried installing System Mechanic at least half a dozen times. Everytime I click on their desktop icon it crashes: "(X) The application has crashed and will now terminate.". Not yet removed, after a few restarts, up pops a window and it asks to upgrade itself. I let it, hoping that maybe that would clear up the problems. Some things disappeared, but still it crashes when trying to open it.Then up pops another window and then a browser opens up with a webpage from the Iolo website offering me 'A DEAL!' - if I paid more I'd get their latest version and an extra year. Here's where their website proved to be as buggy as their software. I decided to give them another chance and clicked [Buy Now]. Guess what, that also didn't work - over and over again it too crashed: "The connection was interrupted"!I have tried to find information of use on their website, and to contact them, so far I've found nothing and received no response, no help. That doesn't surprise me, that someone with such a buggy bit of software, and a badly designed website, would also add up to poor customer service.All I'm left with now is the need to put the garbage out, to remove System Mechanic, every bit of it, and to recycle what I can, the packaging, and, as it can't be recycled, to bin the CD.It's a write off, money lost.In the past I've used other utilities software that hasn't posed any problems, two examples: Norton Utilities from its birth to their great take over, and more recently Advanced System Optimizer. Maybe Iolo deserved its praise in the past, back in the days of Windows XP, but our experience here has been awful, wasted time and effort, wasted money. Because of this I felt the need to warn others to avoid experiencing the same frustrations and disappointments we have, don't waste your money and time on Iolo and their software System Mechanic. ### ⭐ Simply didn't work for me *by Y***G on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 July 2013* My Dell XPS was in serious need of some help. It ran very hot and I had to re-install the OS to get it working a little while ago. I decided to but this 'mechanic' to ensure I could fix the XPS and keep it running. Installed, no problem and did a deep scan which highlighted 8 major issues, i think 2 were 'critical' and t button that said 'click to fix all' Obviously i pressed it thinking this was great, however all hell broke loose.My system restarted and asked me to remove the disk from the drive and restart, it then said it couldn't detect the HD at all....I restarted and booted from the Windows 7 disk but while it did recognize the HD again it refused to boot and 'beeped' like crazy.I am no techie, which is why I bought this software...wish I didn't now. I might simply be unlucky or it might be that this product isn't quite all that it claims to be?A previously working if not slow and noisy lap-top is now dead and I am £20 lighter...I hope you have better luck than me. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Keeps my 7 year old Gateway laptop going and running Windows 8. *by S***D on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 January 2014* Got it installed on two desktops as well keeps them running nicely without problems.I`ve been using System Mechanic since I saw it in a magazine reviewed in 1998.Buy a copy every year without fail.
