Best Megaphone I've Used So Far
I work at a community college and every year for commencement, it is my responsibility to run the students through the rehearsal in the morning. The Student Life office usually gives me a small megaphone to use but it is never loud enough for all the students to hear me. I end up setting it aside and yelling (yes, its sad that my voice is louder than the crappy megaphones the college provides). By the end of the day, my voice is very tired.I bought this megaphone hoping it would be a lot louder than the little ones I've used in the past years because I don't want to yell anymore. I received the ThunderPower 450 last week and took it out on campus with a coworker to test it out. This megaphone is VERY loud. My coworker was able to clearly hear and understand me from over 100 yards away while I spoke into the mic at a normal volume without shouting or raising my voice. This is a little bit on the heavy side but very well constructed and with the shoulder strap, the weight is not an issue.Anyone purchasing this megaphone will not be disappointed with it. It is a high quality product and is VERY LOUD.

Defective Product
Bought this as a christmas gift, and when it was opened and used for the first time a month later it was discovered that it was broken. There is corrosion inside the battery compartment, the battery latch doesn't properly connect, and even when the battery compartment is held shut, the megaphone only generates quiet, almost rhythmic clicking noises and will not project any other sound.Moral of the story - check your purchase for defects as soon as it arrives.

Boy is it LOUD!
I had bought the 150 version last year (two steps down from this one), and I realized I needed something louder. I run a girls camp, and was told by staff that I couldn't be heard in the back of our pavilion (about 100 ft. long and has open sides).I bought this about a week ago and I've been trying it at home. It is A LOT louder than the other one. I think I will definitely be heard at camp.I also love the fact that I can control the level of loudness by a dial with 10 levels on it. I also like that it has a siren and a whistle (for emergency drills and real emergencies, plus I use the whistle for station rotation). The strap is a must as this megaphone is a bit heavy and cumbersome, but the handheld mic totally makes up for that. Fun and easy to use!

Very Good
It's a little heavy, but works GREAT in all kinds of weather! Sound is loud, clear and very consistent. Batteries lasted for about 6 weeks when used for approximately 20 mins. a day - 5 days a week - I don't think you can ask for more than that, especially since many of those days it was used in 30 degree or below weather.

Lives up to it's name...MEGAphone!
It is ridiculously loud...exactly what we needed. While the batteries make it heavier to handle, it outlasts our rechargable one and is 10x louder. Perfect for what we need.

Mispackaged - actually a cheap megaphone
The megaphone inside was actually a cheap, off brand one. Defrauded.

I like it! - Radio Shack has a less powerful ...
I like it! - Radio Shack has a less powerful one which use to be about the same price; but now that Radio Shack is going out of business, they're selling for 29$ USD right now... so I'd buy one at that price; however for the price of this one... it's well worth it.

Same fatal flaw as cheaper RS units
We only use a megaphone for a few weeks each summer and they sit on the shelf during the off season - not much use at all. I bought this to replace the inexpensive Radio Shack brand currently in use. We have had to replace these about every other year so I decided to "upgrade" to a high quality megaphone.First, the "extra loud" ThunderPower unit is barely louder than the cheap one it replaced. I tested it while it was set on 10 and people were asking me to speak up.Second and even more important - it has the same hinge design (both top and bottom) as the RS unit and the same mic clip (overall it looks almost identical). These two points are what break on the RS units. When the mic clip breaks it is annoying but when the battery latch or hinge breaks it renders the unit worthless as it is almost impossible to fix so we throw them away and buy new ones. Finally, it was shipped unpadded and the battery compartment was offset and bent on arrival. If it can't handle the gentle ride provided by UPS how in the world will it handle coaches and volunteers using it for a whole season? In conclusion, for $109 I expected a higher quality unit. It is going right back. Heading back to RS for another disposable megaphone. In the pros column - the whistle is a very nice touch and it is LOUD but not annoying like the siren.
