## Description

On trips with trail time built in, this high-volume adventure travel backpack blends highly ventilated backpacking suspension and torso length adjustability with travel-focused features to deliver unrivaled men's fit, comfort and performance. Featuring a tensioned mesh AirSpeed backpanel and an included AirCover that protects your pack at check-in and doubles as a raincover.

Review: This pack looked intriguing as it blended a pretty standard hiking backpack with a travel backpack, which would be useful for a couple of my trips. The 70 liter size is massive and makes for a great backpacking size having all the usual features of this type of a bag; water bladder pocket, tons of external lashing points for sleeping pad (or bag, depending on size), hiking poles and plenty of interior space to carry gear. I particularly like the compression straps, which aside from compression, make for a great place to lash down an extra layer and have it quickly available. The side water bottle pockets are a really clever design that makes my water bottle accessible even when worn and they’re plenty large and stretchy for bigger flasks. The harness system is fantastic and extremely comfortable while also being height adjustable. It has what feels like a built-in suspension system using the panel that sits at my back. I’m not entirely sure what the frame is made of, but it’s semi stiff and provides some good structure for the bag. The shoulder straps are thickly padded and don’t have sharp edges that dig in, the waist belt uses a similar design and it’s one of the most comfortable I’ve used. I think the whole harness system is probably the high point of the pack, it really worked well even carrying a heavier load. As a travel bag, outside of the rain cover which doubles as a protective sheath for the bag when checked, there really aren’t any other travel specific features. I do think the air cover is a clever and functional feature but I would’ve liked to see more travel centric interior compartments or pockets which would also be useful for separating gear more when backpacking. There is a sort of hidden pocket designed for passports and similar but that’s really about it. It is a large pack though and the huge main compartment has a lot of room to pack kit in but if that’s the metric you could slap a rain cover on any large hiking bag and call it a travel backpack. I think the design works as a whole though. It’s spacious, has a fantastic harness system and is made from durable feeling materials that should hopefully survive air travel. I’m not entirely sold on the travel features or lack thereof, but it does make for a convenient way to haul backpacking gear without packing multiple bags or suitcases and I think it accomplishes what it sets out to do.
Review: I am absolutely in love with this Osprey Farpoint Trek 70L! I originally bought it for a big international trip, but it’s so versatile that I’ve started using it for everything from work travel to weekend sleepovers. The 70L size is massive, and the "open-concept" main compartment is a dream if you use packing cubes. It really bridges the gap between a rugged backpacking bag and a sleek travel suitcase. The AirCover is a stroke of genious—it protects all the straps and buckles when you have to check it at the airport, and then it doubles as a rain cover when your out on the trails. One thing to note is that the shoulder straps are definitely skinnier and have less padding than what you’d find on a "true" technical backpacking pack. If your carrying 50+ lbs for ten miles, you might notice the difference, but for travel and light trekking, they are still incredibly comfortable. The LightWire frame and the "trampoline" mesh back panel do a great job of keeping the weight off your spine and letting your back breathe. The build quality is top-notch, with beefy zippers and sturdy clips that feel like they'll last for decades. Honestly, Osprey products are worth every penny, and this hybrid design is exactly what I needed for my adventures.

*by A***R on 23 February 2026*

I have had other Osprey packs over the years, and have always been really happy with the quality. This is no exception. It's a departure from other backpacks I have in a few ways. First, it has the ability to open ALL the way up, so I don't have to cram everything in from the top, or dig for things from the top all the way down. It has a U shaped zipper that lets it open entirely. It has a cover, but unlike a typical raincover, this covers the back of the pack so it's streamlined for checking on a plane. That cover is sturdy, made of thick fabric. The pack itself is super lightweight, so we can fill it full and my husband can carry some of the kids' things as well when we are on vacation. It's so much easier than dragging a wheeled suitcase over cobblestone streets! Here's the scale I'm using for my ratings: 1 star= Nope! I do not recommend. It’s poorly made, or not what it’s listed to be. 2 stars = Has some redeeming qualities, would not buy again. 3 stars = Meh. It's passable. Might not be worth the price. 4 stars = Good, but there’s something off 5 stars = Yes! Exactly what it should be. * I do my best to give an honest review as if I had paid the listed price, but there is an inherent bias when items are received at reduced cost.
