Both the llisted speed and model number change in the product description as you pick different disk size options. This is consistent with Seagate's website -- From the home page, drill down through (or search for) Internal / Hard Drives / BarraCuda - Learn More, and then click the 3.5 inch models tab (NOT the 3.5 inch PRO models tab). Then click on the data sheet next to any model to get a PDF with a table containing all of the models along with their drive speeds and other specs.. **Q: Is a sata cable included in the package?** A: Cables not included. You can buy a SATA data cable and likely the appropriate power cable for your computer right here on Amazon. Depending on your power supply, the power cable may already be connected to it in your computer -- some have that and some do not. **Q: Is this really 7200rpm? the model number suggests otherwise.** A: Only the 1TB and 2TB HDDs in this series are 7200RPM. The higher capacity drives are 5400RPM and only intended as data drives. When using the 5400RPM drives you should have a separate drive that is either a 7200RPM HDD, a NVMe drive or an SSD for the operating system/as the boot drive. 5400RPM drives will boot a computer but will be noticeably slower than a 7200RPM HDD, a NVMe drive or an SSD. If your computer is new enough, an NVMe drive would be the best option. Otherwise, a SATA SSD would be the next best option. All three are available right here on Amazon. **Q: Is the 2tb (st2000dm008) internal hard drive cmr or smr?** A: I can't speak to SMR vs. CMR but since I see someone said this is unsuitable as a boot drive I will note that I have used this as the boot drive with a dual Windows 10-Xubuntu 20.04 OS install and it has worked fine. I personally think the load/unload cycle count is set way too liberally, it unloads way too quickly IMO but that is easy enough to deal with and even if it isn't dealt with the drive has about 3-5 years of load/unload cycles built into it and that is worst case where the computer is on constantly (my use case). Seagate have allways been reliable and good value ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An excellent hard drive. Just make sure it arrives in the correct transit box with a warranty card. *by G***S on 27 March 2023* I have used Seagate Barracudas for 12 years and found them to be a fantastic all-rounder, having great reliability and lifespan. I use them both in the house network drives and the Home Theatre library. I have even committed the cardinal sin of changing the orientation of a set of three year old barracudas from horizontal to vertical, when the library enclosure backplane failed, and they just continued on in the new enclosure with zero errors. Most of my Barracudas run 24/7, and on average they last for 8 years. But even as they get to end-of-life, they have never just failed, they begin throwing up the odd error, to let you know they are almost done. In my experience, you have about three months from the start of the drives giving errors, to more serious problems. But if the drive is around 8 years old, it has pretty much done it's duty. The only thing I would warn you about, is to make sure that the barracuda (or any Seagate hard drive) arrives in the proper Seagate transit box shown in the pictures. This is the official Seagate packaging, and will include the Seagate warranty booklet. I mention this because I was tempted by a supplier that was slightly cheaper than the official Amazon-supplied drive. What I received was a barracuda inside a heat sealed anti-static bag, but it was loosely packaged in a generic cardboard box without a warranty card. These drives are sometimes 'harvested' from other devices, such as Seagate Expansion or Backup units. I returned the drive and bought the slightly more expensive official Amazon-supplied drive, as these always arrive in mint condition. I will not make that mistake again.
